Mimominkov if your husband is contacting you after having a valid restraining order against him then go to the court to solve this problem.

Change your phone number or block him and block his emails too.

Uscis won't give a damn about his letter. It's in their garbage can already. I am serious.

Hi there guys! I just wanna share this experience that I had this week. Last Sept 5, 2016, I received a notification thru text and email that my application for i-485 was denied. The email says "On August 31, 2016, we denied your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS." I immediately called my lawyer in Seattle to tell him about this information. The next day he called me back and told me that he received the denial letter. The letter said that I did not response to the RFE from USCIS and it's considered as abandonment. Neither I nor my lawyer received any RFE from them. I keep checking the mailbox every day to see if there is any letter from USCIS. My lawyer wrote his declaration stating that we never received any letter and printed out a copy of case status online. Then next day Sept 7, 2016, I went to the USCIS office here in Buffalo. I spoke with an officer. She was nice and very accommodating. She was able to retrieve the letter that I never received. In the letter, they are requesting me to submit my medical exam report. I had my medical exam last July 11, 2016, and I have the envelope on my hand. She did not accept it and told me to apply for i-290B. I called my lawyer right after I went to USCIS. I sent him my medical exam together with the i-290B application form. He told me that we will apply for fee waiver since $630 is too expensive for me and I'm not working right now. Today, he filed the i-290B and the fee waiver to Vermont office. I just wanna ask how long does it take to open the case? I just cannot believe that fact that I was denied because of the letter that I never received. It's really heartbreaking and emotionally draining to wait for a long time.

Dear Lafayettestrong,

Congratulations to you. I am so glad to hear that you are approved!

Thank you for positing your timeline. I find the timeline posts so encouraging and it gives me hope that with patience this journey will eventually end.

You mentioned that you did not submit police reports, hospital reports or psychologist's statement. How did you prove abuse? It is only through personal statements from you and friends? I do not have any police reports or hospital reports, but I have submitted a psychologist's statement in addition to personal statements from me, my family and some of my husband's relatives. I am curious about your case because it looks like you did not receive an RFE and they have accepted abuse upon the initial submission. I frequently worry that I don't have enough proof because I don't have police reports etc. So, anything you can share about your situation would be very helpful to know what kinds of evidence you have submitted.

Thanks.

ASJUL.

Hello everyone!

I know everyone is already tired to read sad stories, but I try to make it as short as I can.

I got married in 2014 with US citizen.

In august 2015 applied to change my status.

Husband refused to go to interview. I canceled an interview, but at that time I had already a work permit(based on marriage).

In November 2015 I applied for VAWA ( I filled all forms, for work permit and a green card at the same time). My husband abused me all the time. I even do not want to mention what things he did with me, because I ll cry a few hours again.

On January 2016 USCIS requested more proofs.

Again on May 2016.

On July 2016 VAWA was approved!! You know, when I have got a notice about approval, I didnt have any emotions, just after a few hours I cried. Because I know, my journey is not done yet.

So now is September. I have my work permit (based on marriage, not on VAWA)which is valid until October 2016 (USCIS said I can use this one until I get another one). But I didnt get another one!!! USCIS didnt send me anything yet. And I actually do not know what is next.

People are talking about some interviews here, but my attorney says that there are no interviews for VAWA. I am so confused.

What I have to expect now? Interview? or I have to wait for a work permit? Or I have to fill out all forms again for work permit and a green card?

I cannot sleep, eat...nothing, I think all day long "what I have to do next, what I have to do ....?".

How long does it take to get a green card from I 360 approval? ( I was married with US citizen)?

I would really appreciate if someone could answer on my questions.

Thank you

Hello WhiteLily01, Congratulation! Am so happy to read good stories. It inspires me a lot, do not give up and move on!!

I just want to ask about (i485)AOS interview. All VAWA applicants have to go to i485 interviews? No matter who you were married with: US citizen or green card holder? What do they usually ask on interview?

And one more question, "The IO asked for an updated i693 or Medical Exams"? I know that USCIS changed a form for a medical exam, so I have to do medical exam again? Its about 500 doll, and it fears me a lot, because I have no money to apply for divorce yet.

Hi VJ members, this is my first time posting here (been a silent reader for 2 yrs), I promised myself to share my journey to inspire other victims of DV that there's hope & God will be there for all of us no matter what. Today is one of the happiest days of my life, I just received an email that my card for my i485 application is for production! The first thing I did after I read the email, I sat down and cried, then I sent Sandra a PM, our angel and the wonderful Sandra, she's been a great help with my applcation, she guided me throughout this journey! Thank you soo much Sandra for your help!!

Please to all the women/men out there that are experiencing abuse from their spouses, don't wait until something really bad happened to you, when Sandra told me to cut my ties with him, seek help & start your VAWA application. That's what I did, it wasn't easy bec of all the documents that needed to submit some requires money, that some of us victims do not have. I prayed and God always answered my prayers. Talk to people, seek help bec if you're sincere they will help you, trust me. I read the whole VAWA 7 thread, as well as the previous forums prior to this, to all of you who posted your experiences, timelines and your journeys, without you knowing You guys also helped me in guiding me with this whole process aside from Sandra's help of course. By the way I just did it without a lawyer. Below is my timeline. Again thank you all and God bless VJ website, the moderator, Sandra and every member of VJ.

03/5/15 - i360, i765 & i485 filed concurrently
03/30/15 - Prima Facie
06/06/15 - RFE received
06/12/15 - Responded to RFE
07/14/15 - Biometrics
12/07/15 - i360 approved
01/08/16 - 1765 approved
01/16/16 - EAD received
06/18/16 - Received notice for (i485)AOS interview
07/06 - Interviewed at local USCIS office. The IO asked for an updated i693 or Medical Exams. Although Sandra told me to get one before the interview, I wasn't able to get one bec. of my financial situation.
8/12 - I finally got my medical exams
8/15 - Sent my i693 & the RFE that the IO gave me

I finally received my GC today!! Yayyy!! I'm sooo happy, and I will start a full time job 26th of Sep! I feel so blessed! Again, thanks to Sandra and to all of you who shared your experiences in this website which I used to guide me throughout my journey.God is great!

To Adella2016, Based on what I read here at VJ posts there were some people Who did not undergo interview on their i485 applications, but majority I think were interviewed, like me, Ex-hubby is a US citizen, regardless if your abusive spouse is a USC or PR, it's the discretion of the USCIS if they want to see you for an interview.

The IO required for the renewed Medical bec. mine was expired (only one year validity) and also he said USCIS have an updated i693 form, so I didn't really have a choice but to get a new one. Yes, its about $350-500, depends on how many vaccinations/tests they require for your age, most esp. they added a new test, the Gonorrhea test (add'l $50 for it).

Hope the info. I provided helps. Good luck and God bless!

I have a question about an interview, what they usually ask ? And how long does it take?

First are the YES/NO questions that's on the i485 form. The IO asked me, if we are divorced, how long we have been married, and when did I leave him, then the i693 issue that I should get a new one. I believe the IO didn't have a chance to read my files thoroughly prior to my interview bec he was reading it while interviewing me. They are busy that day I guess. He was a nice young gentleman. The interview just lasted for about 20 mins., then he handed me the RFE requesting for the new i693. He told me that I should submit it through mail or directly to their office, I sent it through courier. That's it. The interview wasn't really that difficult, but it's better to be preapared most esp. the required documents, bring them with you to avoid delays on your GC approval.

Hello Sandra, thank you for responding. But how I can find out?

I called to USCIS and they said I have to make a request to Vermont. I have a receipt number, but it works just for I-360 ( which is approved in August 2016) . I am 100% sure and I filled out all forms in the beginning the case ( November 2015 ), but I dont know how to check the status of them. Calling to USCIS doesnt help at all.

ella 2016 if your previous I-485 was pending then you don't have to do anything but if your previous AOS was denied then you have to submit a new one.

Your medical exam is valid for one year. There is no interview for VAWA but there is an interview to adjust status.
