Congrats Oti!!!! So happy for you! Good luck on your interview:)

Guys! I'm getting ready to submit my I-485 this week and have a couple of questions just to be on the safe side.

1. Can I translate my birth certificate myself or do I need to find someone to do it for me?

2. I just received my EAD which is valid from 04/01, but it didn't actually get it till mid April and am only starting training at the new job(yay!) this Monday. Do you think I can still waive the fees? I'm type 1 diabetic and need to get insurance and insulin. I have no idea how fast I'll be able to save $ for the AOS. I ended up in the hospital last year 2 times and almost died from the complications:(

3. Can I mail the change of address letter with the AOS or should I do it separately couple of days before?

Oh, and here's the list of all the docs. Could you tell me if I'm missing something?

-i485

-g325a

-i912 to waive fees

-copy of the passport

-copy of the birth certificate + translation

-VAWA approval

-i693

-2photos

Is this it???

Thanks y'all!!!! XOXO

Hi guys,

I have a question, I received my GC interview notice for May 26th, but my husband doesn't know that I got it in the mail already. He just keeps saying that when we get the notice that he won't go to the interview and he will cancel the process. I haven't told him or showed him the notice out of fear of him wanting to cancel. I plan to send out VAWA application this coming week and also going to the interview by myself and asking immigration officer to put interview on hold for when VAWA is approve. My question is do I have to let him know that I received the GC interview notice and run the risk of him canceling it or do I just hide it and not tell him and show up???

PLEASE HELP ME GUYS. What do you guys think???

Anastasia you can translate your birth certificate, but you must submit a Certificate of Translation

Certificate of Translation

FULL LEGAL NAME, hereby certify that I translated the attached document from LANGUAGE into English and that, to the best of my ability, it is a true and correct translation. I further certify that I am competent in both LANGUAGE and English to render and certify such translation.

date,sign

-------------------------------------------

If you received the EAD is because you filed AOS, what fee are you asking to be waived?

Fill out form G1145, and if you plan to travel file Form I-131 as well.

USCIS is very messy and usually they do not update the address. File form AR 1, wait 10 days and got to Infopass to confirm if they changed your address.

I got my interview for my GC interview next month 26th, but my husband will not be attending. I have everything already, just waiting on my psychological evaluation which will also include my therapy sessions. I should be getting everything in about a week to two weeks. As soon as I get everything I will mail out my VAWA packet. What happens and what do I do if I send my VAWA but haven't received a receipt number from USCIS before my GC interview on May 26th? I plan to go to the interview and ask them to put the interview on hold after VAWA approval. Also, another question... do I have to submit a copy of the form I-485 AOS that my husband and I submitted along with my VAWA application? Any final advice???

Thank you.

Lina 3 you don't have to tell him about the letter.I suggest that you seek a place to stay(shelter). DO NOT SUBMIT VAWA USING YOUR HOME ADDRESS.Use a friend's address to receive letters from USCIS.

You are risking to have the AOS denied if you are still living with him when you attend the AOS interview. Vawa is approved if the VAWA filer lives with the abuser, because USCIS understand they couldn't find a place to move in, but usually, AOS is denied if the victim is still living with the abuser, because VAWA was enacted to help the victim to gain status and flee from abuse, not to receive green card and keep living with the abuser. I suggest you leave your abusive husband before the AOS interview because the Immigration Officer may understand that you are just filling VAWA because your husband is refusing to go to the AOS interview.

I advise you leave him immediately to avoid the cycle of abuse. And for your information, the GC application is yours, he cant not cancel it. Thr worse he can do is to withdraw his support for you which is the affidavit of support but once you file vawa u do not need his support. Send in ur Vawa petition asap. Good luck

Hello Sandra,

I am moving today, I decided to move today when my husband left to work today so he won't know until he gets back. I am so nervous and scared of what will happen once he finds out that I left. Sandra, I will be using the new address of where I am moving to when I send my VAWA application this coming week. I won't be living in the same house when I attend the Interview, I am done with this mental and emotional abuse. Sandra, so you still recommend attending GC interview on May 26th by myself, and letting the Officer know that I submitted VAWA and if he/she and pt it on hold until VAWA is approve? You suggest anything else? Should I let Officer know anything else or do you know what they may ask me?

Please guys, lets keep all of us in mind and pray for each other. I ask for you guys to pray for me on this move today and that everything goes well and nothing bad happens.

Thank you.

Ensure u use a sage address maybe u can open a PO box so no matter how manytines you move ur mailing address will not change. Change of address is quite difficult with vawa cases and dont think the process is so smooth..vawa is cases are unpredictable and you got to be patient.
