For medication costs your best resource is the pharmacist. You can ask about generic options. They also have access to coupons and rebates from manufacturers. This can significantly reduce the costs. A good pharmacist will know whats currently offered and enter it in for you.

There are also free prescription discount plans available like Good RX - http://www.goodrx.com/ There you can find the lowest price based on location using their discount codes at the pharmacy.

@AnastasiaE; So sorry to hear about your medical dilemma...I am in the same predicament...sorta..My atty has still not submitted my AOS after my I360 approval and is refusing to answer my calls. I am so stranded in need of a job so I can afford my medication but this does not seem to concern my atty at all. I had requested at least to have my I765 expedited but nothing has moved. Am just praying and waiting....

sorry to hear that... I don't have a lawyer so I'm not sure if you can submit the paperwork yourself?? I can't do the AOS just yet, because my passport was stolen and I'm waiting to get a new one. Was hoping that if they do send me a biometrics appointment, then I'll show up with a copy and pray that it all just works out.

Thanks, Damara. I did my research a while ago. The insulin that I need without the insurance and with all the coupons is at least $450 a month. There're programs for diabetics, but you can get help, BUT you have to have a GC. Without it(even with approved VAWA) they don't even wanna listen to you & just hang up. I've found a cheaper version of insulin that I can afford, but, unfortunately, it can only keep somewhat healthy and doesn't guarantee that I wouldn't end up back in the hospital. :( It sucks big time, considering the fact that back in Russia I was getting all of my supplies for free.

Congratulations PNYC89. It is great news! Thank you for sharing information. Did you bring any proof of employment like paystubs or letter from employer? If you are not employed, can they deny your I485?

Thank you!

I was never asked for any proof of employment in any phase of the application. Not in the beginning, not at the interview. Never.... So I didn't take anything with me.

So I don't think that can affect the I485, but I'm not sure.

Hi Sandra,

Is there a way to just inform USCIS about what I have gone through with my ex spouse and request that I would not have a 10year ban? I wish to just go nack to my home country but I so not want the 10 year ban because it was not my intention to overstay.

Thank you!

Mcby you don't have to leave to file VAWA.You just file VAWA and that is it, assuming that you got married with who sponsored your K1 visa.

Mosby If your overstay in the United States was for less than six months (180 days) then you will not have problem to reenter in the USA.If you overstayed for more than 180 days then you will have a ban.Once you leave you will have the ban,no matter what.

@PNYC89, Congratulations on your approval!!! So happy for you. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Wishing you all the best in this new chapter?

@Freeish15 - You got already what is required, VAWApproval. AOS is now just filling up the I-485 forms. Your atty might be looking for additional fee. Mostly AOS you can do by yourself.

of course Sandra has expert views on the same....

@Damara..thanks for the information on medication. So kind of you..

@AnastasiaE...just when I thought I was in a horrible state, I see your case and feel for you... Stay positive I am sure something will work out with your passport issue. Btw how did you file for the EAD without submitting I485? Is there a fee?

@VWhope2016...sadly I had paid my atty all fees for both my VAWA and AOS when I begun my journey apart from the filling fee which I could not afford and had requested a waiver. So my dilemma is I may not get a refund of the fees already paid...So stranded at this point but yes am contemplating filling on my own and will inquire from the bar association on how I can get a copy of my file and if a refund is possible since my atty is ignoring all my attempted communication. I really hope this is the right thing to do...thanks for the encouragement.

It's all good, I try to find positive things in everything:) Getting my passport back is just a waiting game. I submitted docs to prove my Russian citizenship and once it's done I can get a new one. Its probably not gonna be till 4,5 months from now though?

I did it under c14 category which is deferred action. There was a fee, idk how much, it was waived for me since I can't work.

@AnastasiaE..thanks so much for all your encouragement. Will look into it since I also got approved with deferred action if my atty does not respond this week.

This VAWA forums (part1-7)have been so enlightening and resourceful for me than my atty... my only regret is I found it way after paying all my atty fees and filling my I360????

@Freeish15

I'd say do it! Or fill out the paperwork for the AOS yours of and just have your lawyer review it. Pisses me off that you pay them so much and they're reluctant to do their job! Hope when you paid him/her out front you weren't insanely overcharged.

Good luck with everything, love:) and keep all of us updated! I don't post a lot, but read everything, and every time I get an email & someone got approved... Well, it just makes my day & in my mind makes the world a better place.
