We are currently finalizing our I-129F Package.

My fiancé and I met whilst working together on a cruise ship. Following this he returned home to the U.S. and I obtained a J1 visa which allowed me to complete an eight month program, in a town nearby to him in MA.

Would it be beneficial to include photocopies of the visa pages in my passport which display my C1/D visa (obtained for my work on cruise ships) and my J1 Visa? I also have my certificate of eligibility for exchange visitor (J1 status), and my training program provided by the company I worked for during my J1 program. Would it be useful to provide a copy of these in the I-129F package also?

We already have a few photographs, and snippets of Facebook messenger conversations which I have put together. We have my boarding pass from when I arrived on the J-1 visa, and an e-ticket from a vacation I took on an ESTA Visa Waiver earlier this year. We also both have our employment contracts from the cruise line we worked for which we will include. Just a little concerned this would’t be enough, or if they would require additional details about my previous visas at this early stage.

Any help or advise would be highly appreciated.

:)

Yeah, that sounds good. You should try and provide as much evidence as possible now than later, where you'll be able to present it at the interview. Most people like to "front-load" their petitions so when it comes time for the interview, the IO has no doubt that the relationship is bona fide because they've already reviewed the file and seen the evidence.

You should try and provide documents evidencing the evolution of your relationship -- start from when you met/started dating and then throughout.

Don't you have proof of living in a town close to him? Receipts, rental agreement, a bank? Putting yourself for 8 months in MA makes better proof than Facebook. USCIS wants to know you met in person. As far as relationship tell a brief story of how you met and then lived in MA from date to date so they understand how it is you lived in the U.S.

Because you are interviewing in London, you can ease up on lots of Facebook and ongoing relationship worries. London does not care about that at interview.

I have wondered about this topic myself as it is the number one thing for a RFE that comes up "proof of relationship" according to the spreadsheet.. But then other people say that they took four pictures with them to the interview, and they never looked.

I use facebook messenger for calling as it is way clearer than What's App or Skype from US to Nepal but am not sure how to track that but I have been there twice this year, have a FB messenger count of over 20,000 and growing..

Being over prepared is better than having to wait I think.. That is the very worst part of this.. the waiting.. I think if the USG got smarter they would have an expedited process for a fee as people in love at any age would pay a premium to have their loved ones here asap.. I know I would pay $10,000 for a guaranteed 2 month process rather than the 4-5-6-12 that it might be even if I had to borrow the money!

Which spreadsheet?

For a petition, the USCIS requires that you met in person. Prove that. If you read the actual I-129F instructions, it does not say you need to submit proof that you talk and message every day.

At the embassy stage, every consulate is different. Some are very lenient like London and don't want to see Skype, photo albums, etc. Other consulates may expect to see more of the relationship. Study interview reviews of your consulate to get the vibe on what people were asked for.

https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing I think this is the link for the list or you can look it up on the K-1 forums..

Been there twice, can prove it with passport pictures, plane tickets, hotel and air bnb receipts etc., will likely go again in Jan/Feb depending on where my status is for our case.. I have read the interviews but notice that there doesn't seem to be a lot of clear information regarding the "Nepal" consulate and what there is appears old.. Either very few people do the K-1 thing or they are not accurately updating here ;)

When you say "the number one thing for a RFE that comes up "proof of relationship" according to the spreadsheet", I don't see that. Thought we might be looking at different spreadsheets.

Thank you, this spreadsheet is very helpful.

I see on a few occasions, it is noted that the Beneficiary Birth Certificate was required. I did not see this on the list of documents I should include in my packet (Only for the petitioner), is this something you would suggest including just to be safe?

I suppose being overly cautious doesn’t hurt.

You can send your grandma's birth certificate if you want to, but there is no reason to overload with unnecessary stuff. My theory is the more you stuff your packet with "just in case", the bigger tha chance that they can't find what they need to actually approve. The birth certificate is to prove US citizenship, which is a requirement of the petitioner. A foreign birth certificate does not prove that.

Having read through a number of these forums and experiences it seems that the Beneficiary Birth Cert. is indeed required at least "some of the time".. Soo.. I have instructed my fiance to acquire hers just in case based on the 20-30% chance we will need it. I don't know about you but I can't wait to be together and even a week or two longer is just not acceptable to me.. IN the 3rd world getting those documents can take time.

If there was something with even a 10% chance of being needed I would show up with it.

Pictures most people get by with 5 or so but you never know..That's why we document using whats app, facebook, etc to show ongoing relationship.. LOve facebook phone messenger for quality but you can't really document much there unless you screen shot every call..
