Timeline

We haven't had our interview yet. Our lawyer suggested that we obtain a police letter from where he lived since it was longer than 6 months. I honestly would recommend you do that as well.

He was a former resident since he lived here on a h2b visa and on the website.... http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

it says that you do not need to obtain a clearance from the US
