Household size for affidavit of support/sponsor form I 864 (I have co-sponsors)

Hi all!

I have a question regarding household size. Here is my situation. Apologies for any repeating myself to those who've already seen any of my posts, but just in case any of this information is pertinent!

- I am British and married to a US citizen. He has been in the UK for 10years and has ILR here.

- We have been together for 5 years and married since May this year.

- We have a three year old child who was born in the UK and has a UK passport, but also has a US passport/SS number/certificate of US citizen born abroad

My husband is my sponsor as he was the petitioner on the I130. However because he hasn't lived in the States for years and isn't a high earner, his father in law is going to co-sponsor.

When we move to the States my husband, myself and our child will be living in a property owned by my FiL, next door to where he lives. So he won't be living with us, but we will be living in one of his houses. He is not married and has no other dependents.

My questions are:

- In our house there will be my husband and child (both US citizens already) and myself. What does my husband put down as household size, 3?

- Next door will be my co-sponsor, my father in law, who lives alone. What does he put down for household size - 4?

Will it look weird that there are two different household sizes on my sponsor forms?

Or am I missing something really obvious?! (Highly possible!)

Thanking you very much!!

LW

- Yes, your husband will put down 3.

- You are the only one your FIL is sponsoring since your husband and child are already US citizens. So, his household size will be him + you = 2 since he has no other dependents

- Nope, joint sponsors can live in any state in the US and don't necessarily have to live with the petitioner or even be a relative.

His household size would be 1 (as he has no spouse, dependents etc). Number of people he is sponsoring would be 1 bringing the total to 2 which is Part 5 on the form. Has he ever sponsored anyone else before that he is still obligated to them as a sponsor?

Sorry just seen one of the replies has been edited- I will re-read the replies and take them in, see if I understand this time ;)

See these two different conclusions are also ones I've reached hence my confusion ;)

Thanks Tracy!

He's never sponsored anyone before so that makes one thing simpler :)

Thank you, I think that makes sense!

Thank you! Seems so odd for my husband to say he has 0 spouse...

This is all good news though. It means my FiL should meet the min. requirements for his household size without having to use his assets/homes (though we will mention them too I'm sure!)

TVM again all :)

If you read the instructions it clearly says list nobody twice. So how is that strange that he doesn't support you and your clone? He only supports you once.

An example when somebody would list the immigrant and their spouse is Dad (if he was married). He would have an immigrant (you) and his wife to support--two people.

These form are generic to fit many situations and many types of people filling them out.

I meant it looks funny seeing the number '0' next to spouses for him, that's all... we've only been married 6mo so still getting used to being a 'spouse' but I was just being conversational in that post, didn't mean to imply I thought it should be different...

Thanks for clarifying though. I've been finding this forum really helpful and hope when I get through this process I will be able to be of help to others too.
