After reading the forums, it seem like it's taking a long time to at least get the NOA1.

They received the application at the lockbox two weeks ago (delivery confirmed) and I've checked with my bank and the check hasn't even been cashed yet.

Usually it's just a few days from getting it before this usually gets done.

When should I start checking? Is there a way to call?

Not saying this is the case for you, but if you end up waiting a longer than normal time for the receipt notice and check to be cashed, it could possibly indicate the submission being rejected. It takes longer for them to reject and return a file to you than to cash the check and mail the receipt.

It can be rejected for different reasons. One example would be wrong fee amount. Like I said, not saying that is definitely happening in your case, as I have no idea what you submitted. I was just explaining that sometimes people wait a while and wonder where their receipt notice is, and then it turns out they were waiting so long without the check being cashed because the submission was not accepted.

Yes, the NOA1 is the receipt notice, and will include your receipt number and service center location that will be processing your petition. If rejected, your case would not be accepted and you would not receive a receipt notice stating they received your submission and fee.

It is possible they are just being slow. It can take up to 30 days to receive a receipt notice from the USCIS. Hopefully your check gets cashed soon and you get the notice. Did you include the G-1145 to get e-notified?
