Hey everyone, I just received notice this morning of my I-485 being denied. It was denied due to me missing my scheduled interview. However, I never received that notice in the mail and the decision letter states that the notice was returned as 'undeliverable'. My wife and I have not moved since the immigration process started. Her job requires us to live on campus in a residence hall and we have had trouble at times getting mail that was addressed to me. When I talked to USCIS a few months back over a different notice being returned as undeliverable, the officer informed me to make adjustments to prevent such occurrences from happening again and we did as instructed. To further aggravate us, we filed a G-1145 e-Notification when we filed our AoS but it was not honored and we have been kept in the dark during the process.

Enough of our sob story. We have an appointment with our local USCIS office for tomorrow morning. We are currently gathering the documents needed, including the I-290B form, but are wondering if anyone out there has any advice for us? We understand that we have 30 days to file a motion/appeal and will certainly be doing this (as well as sending in another $630 check, barf). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Cheers.

Sorry... but it is your responsibility to provide a "good" address.

If you have had problems with your mails getting delivered than find another address where it is more reliable.

However the harm is already done.

Did you have your phone number on the g-1145 ?

Did you open an account on the uscis.gov page to track your process?

If you didn't, make sure you do them next time and fill out your timeline. It will help give you an estimated time so that if it takes longer than usual you can call the appropriate office until it is too late.

I live in an apartment and my immigration paperwork goes through my parent's residence.. can't risk it.

Prepare well and bring everything you were going to take with you to the interview.

Good luck
