but do take note that your story has changed considerably from start to finish...and if any of that alerts a CPB official, well....

and most of us real in the 'real world'..where people do NOT get long paid vacations, nor 'tour' all the sights that a country offers, nor 'has to return' for vague reasons....all of that adds up to a lot of fuzziness....and in general, statements made by an OP are self serving....AT BEST. After all, who would admit to lying or double dealing on this site?

I'm not sure the DWP are going to be as ok with your extended sojourns in the US as you indicate they will be, even if you technically remain in the UK for at least six months out of the year.

I've certainly read of several cases where someone claimed benefits due to injury rendering them unable to work, but after being tipped-off and investigating, DWP recorded them working out at a gym or walking/running normally after they claimed such things were not possible.

No idea whether any of this applies to you, and it isn't the advice you came here to ask for, regardless, but perhaps something to consider before continuing on the path you are on.

Getting turned away at the airport must be one of the worst things ever! I can only imagine how hard it would be knowing your partner is waiting for you on the other side and you cant even see them or touch them! Gosh its making me want to cry just thinking about it!

You're not thinking of the big picture.

Yes, getting turned back at the airport would be distressing. You've just had a long flight, you're looking forward to seeing your lover and then you find yourself sat in a room waiting for the next flight home.

Everything you've looked forward to comes crashing down around you.

All terrible yes, but that's not the truly terrible thing that's happened.

What's truly terrible is if you lose your VWP privileges then you might NEVER be able to visit the US again. Would you really want to risk that just for the sake of not waiting a bit longer to see your boyfriend?

I rang the UK US Embassay who said they only deal with visas and so I should call the US ESTA department and they gave me an american number I assumed that was at an embassay 202-344-3710 which I rang after 2pm UK time.

We did first meet 10years ago. I then added him on facebook a couple years back whilst he was still in the UK and we met up again. Then he had to move back to America when his mother died. All true!

I was asking if the fact that my mother has a heart condition and my grandfather is 95 and ill would be a good tie back to America didnt claim to be their full time carer. I live with my mother.

As for the benefits that is my business! I was asking if they were a good tie to the UK and that is how I can afford the trip! Because i SAVED for 10 years to have SAVINGS! What benefits I receive and why are nobodys business!

What you have to remember is that, rightly or wrongly, the US has a mindset where they believe that EVERYBODY in the world wants to live in America.

You've shown in this thread how desperate you are to get back to the States as soon as possible.

Let's look at ties.

You have no job that you have to return to by a set date. You may have to be back in the UK to get your benefits but the Officer at the airport probably won't know about that and doesn't have to take your word that this is true.

Caring for your mother/being close to elderly grandfather. Not much of a tie if it's ok for you to disappear for half the year on holiday.

Medications. Yes, you get them for free here but in my experience people in the US have a very high opinion of their own medical care and quite a low opinion of the NHS. They may believe you'd be quite happy to use the more expensive but 'better' (in their opinion) US medical care.

Most tourists visit the US for a few weeks at a time, many months apart, even years apart. You've just returned and want to go back almost immediately. To the CBP Officer it will look like you are trying to 'live' in the US with just a short visit back to Mums for Chrimbo. No matter how many times you say that you don't want to live in the States, that is how it will look.

Remember, the CBP don't need any evidence to refuse your entry. If they just have a hunch that you're not acting like a normal tourist then they can turn you around. Then you can say goodbye to visiting your boyfriend for a long, loooooong time.

Just wait a few more months, maybe go over next summer.

Long distance relationships are like that for everyone.

The 'I hafta return to take care of elderly relatives' is one of the most used and least believable stories told at the visa window....my response often was, 'who will take care of them in your absence?' (to which they would offer another vague reply, something like, 'oh, my sister or brother will help, but they can only help for exactly the amount of time I will be 'visiting' my 'friend' [5-6 months!!!??)....or I have heard, 'they are OK now, but I need to return in case they get sick..'....sometimes, depending on the situation, I have asked, 'is your [relative] going into a cryogenic chamber during your 6 month 'visit'?'.....long silence usually followed.

Bottom line: that excuse for returning is meaningless.
