We are applying for K1 Visa and I’m a Filipino working in Dubai. Since I’m working here in Dubai , we are planning to arrange my interview here instead me going back home.

Is it easier to attend interview here in UAE or should I consider interview in the Philippines?

I would do it there my fiancé is from Philippines and works in HK during our process we were under AP they called her at least four times to come in for an interview or bring papers that would have been difficult if we processed in Philippines. You never know if things will go smoothly or not best be prepared for the not you wont be disappointed then.

Welcome to the forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hello. I am also in the UAE, and I will opt to be interviewed here instead of Manila because it will be easier for me to go the Abu Dhabi embassy than travel to the Philippines for this. Looking at the information here at Visa Journey, the UAE has much lesser K-1 cases than the Philippines, but both has almost the same days from NVC information receipt to actual interview. ?Your choice of embassy to be interviewed at will mainly be for convenience considerations.

To my Kabayan in UAE,

I would suggest to have it done here coz its much quicker. My fiancee applied for K1 visa 1st week of October with all the detailed and accurate documents..

By mid of Nov. we received the USCIS approval follewed by the NVC case #..

By this week of December we got the email from AUH Embassy with the lists of requirements to complete. (Some of these i have already processed ahead such as NBI and Cenomar)

As per their email, they have a new appointment system, where u need to book your own appointment for the interview and pay online or Cash.

The Soonest schedule i got is on Jan. 11th 2016.

I hope and pray that everything will go smoothly.

A: K-1 and K-3 applicants must pay a US $350.00 non-immigrant (visitor) K visa application fee. Please pay the $140.00 base non-immigrant visa fee at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi prior to the interview, the remaining $210.00 fee is to be paid at the Embassy on the date of interview. Is this statement true?

In my case we paid 265dhs online for the visa to be able to book an appointment for the interview.

The AUH US Embassy will send an email to you fiancee/petitioner notifying him that they receibe ur case

They will also mention on the email the instructions as well as the attachments of the requirements.

hello everyone -

I just found this forum. I'm In NC, my future wife is a Filipino and lives in Sharjah, UAE. Like others we decided to process the K1 visa while she was in the UAE, rather than in the Philippines. We are on day 62 since we received the first NOA.

Question I have to all UAE residents; Since the UAE does not have a postal system, what advice can you give us with regards to receiving mail/notifications from the embassy or any other agency. We do not have a PO box set up, but my fiancee has been at he same address for quite some time, which is what we put on the application.

Thank you, and good luck to all

I believed my fiancee in US used my address where i live... As a beneficiary, i have never received any email/mail or sort of notifications directly from US offices... All notifications even the packets we received was sent all to my petitioner.. I would come to know when he forward it all to me.

Thank you for your reply. That helps a lot, I was a bit worried that things might get lost in the process.

Hi

I wanted to check with someone who is further ahead in the process than we are. We are waiting for the NOA2, which I expect to get withing the next 2 weeks (based on time line after sending in information as requested on RFE)

Can you share with me your specific timeline of events. I am still a bit uncertain when to initiate what. We've started the process of getting the CENOMAR and NBI clearance from the Philippines.

Please help me understand: At what point did you schedule the interview, fill out form DS-160 and schedule the medical? Did you have to wait for your case to be at the embassy, "READY" status? Did you wait for them to send you the requirements (packet 3)?

Thank you
