Help please, need advice

Hello guys,

I had my interview at the US embassy on July 21st. During the interview I was given a 221g yellow form requesting additional documentation. Additional documentation was received by the US embassy October 5th. On October 22nd I was asked to drop off passport at the US embassy. Passport was dropped off on October 27th. It's been now over 7 weeks (more than 30 business days) and I haven't heard back from the US embassy. My husband emailed the embassy on December 1st and the embassy replied with the following message:

"The visa is in process. Unfortunately , it is not a manual process so we cannot expedite it.

In order to retrieve the tracking number (AWB) required to pick up the passport from the selected DHL office, please log in to the account created on the U.S Visa Services (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-PE/iv) within approximately 5-7 business days."

My husband never asked for the visa to be expedited, he just inquired the status of the process. I already made the account on the US Visa Services back in June and it hasn't been updated, only show 'Appointment'. My status on CEAC changed from AP to Ready the next day after passport drop off, it has been updated a few times because we check the last date, but has been Ready ever since. I know that my medical exam will be 6 months old on December 30th so I'm wondering if all of this is a good sign. We are more in the dark than when we began this process and it's literally tearing my family apart because we don't know what is going on and the embassy has been very vague with their replies from the beginning.
