For the following forms: I-131, I-485, and I-693

there are barcodes at the bottom of the example forms.

However, when I filled them out and printed them, I noticed that there were no barcodes at the bottom portion of the sheet.

Has anyone come across this?

What would happen if you sent them like this?

How should I proceed?

Update your pdf reader, and/or try using a different browser. You could also try saving the filled out pdf form to your computer first, and printing it from there, instead of in a browser.

I used Safari, I'll try again using either Firefox or Google Chrome.

Thank you Kay!

After investigating it further, it still appears that these forms do not have a barcode. Could it be the newer editions simply don't have one? Or am I still not doing something correctly?

The I-131 instructions talk about the bar-coding. I see them on that form and the I-485 when I open them at the USCIS site. The I-765 does not seem to have one. Either way, anyone could print out blank form and fill it by hand, and the bar code would not matter. When filling them out on a computer, the bar code changes as it captures the data entered, and they scan the bar code to get the data entered on the form. I am not sure why yours do not show up after trying everything, but it probably is not a deal breaker anyway.

If you see the bar codes when filling them out, but then they do not print, is your printer cutting them off with some margin setting or something? That is the only other thing I can think of beyond updating your pdf reader, try Adobe, the different browsers and printing directly from the opened pdf file on your computer.

I didn't see any barcodes while filling them out, so they were missing when printed. It really is strange. I'm going to see what I can figure out, if nothing comes up, I'm going to have to just send them as is. Fingers crossed it's not a big deal. Thank you very much for the help Kay.

I don't see any barcodes on the I-131 at all. The I-485 does have them at the bottom of each page... strangely enough I had downloaded it before and filled it out electronically and the barcodes disappeared. I downloaded it once again with Chrome and filled it out with Foxit PDF and the barcodes are still there. Try that.

I noticed the same thing. I filled out the I-864 and nearly all pages had a barcode. A few months later I needed to fill out the form again and it wasn't any bar codes when I printed. I mailed that way and didn't care about the bar codes.

09/03/15 - AOS mailed to Chicago

10/05/15 - RFE recvd

10/07/15 - Biometrics done, RFE sent

10/13/15 - Online status changed RFE under review

10/15/15 - 2nd RFE issued and mailed

11/18/15 - RFE response sent

12/03/15 - i765 Approved

12/10/15 - EAD recvd

12/17/15 - Interview is scheduled on Jan 21

01/21/16 - Approved/Card in production

01/28/16 - GC recvd

I'm starting to feel like I should just send them as-is. It's frustrating because I have them all filled out and printed, ready to go. It wasn't until something hit me and I thought, "wait, some of these have barcodes" that made me doubt and double-check and come on VJ to ask for help.

It's annoying but apparently people have had no issues submitting them without the barcodes.

I'm just the paranoid type when it comes to official forms especially in this AOS process! But if after trying one more time and seeing no barcodes, I may just have to send them as-is.
