I feel like this is kind of a stupid question, but I'm preparing my stuff for my interview this week, and I wonder if I need to take proof of a bona fide relationship, given that we have been married for 6 years and jointly own our home. The I-130 petition included info about that, joint mortgage, property tax, and now I have the contract of sale of the house, and a detailed moving quotation to show intent to establish domicile in the US.

I would hate to be refused for something so simple but do I need to provide pictures of us or that kind of thing? my USC husband already gave a pile of that stuff to Canada when he got his permanent residency here, so I guess we do have it, but it feels goofy given we're old married folks now. :)

Anyone? Thanks in advance.

The Montreal US Consulate doesn't really ask for proof of relationship from what I've seen and from my own experience at the interview. The CO didn't ask for any proof of relationship - just asked where we met and if it's a first marriage for both of us. Since it's always best to be on the safe side and avoid getting a 221g, you could bring an envelope of pictures, joint mortgage, deed, etc. and that way if the CO asks, you have something. However, I wouldn't worry. They focus more on the Affidavit of Support and seeing that your sponsor makes enough to support you and anyone else you're immigrating with.

I don't remember the last time someone wrote a review about Montreal and them asking for relationship evidence. Bring some anyhow, all of us do, but don't stress about it. Trust me when I say the interview is a pretty easy thing and nothing to be stressed about.

Once the interview is over, I have a whole nother bunch of stuff to be anxious about! woo! :D

I think the interview was the one thing I didn't worry about until I was sitting in that little room upstairs. LOL To me, the interview felt like a formality so I treated it like such. I had all the things ready for it and knew it would be approved because well, I'm an 8th generation white Canadian female who doesn't get into trouble. I had a genuine relationship. I couldn't think of a single reason they'd deny me.

Well, for sure, I'm in a similar situation, with the exception that I once had a green card and moved back to Canada and surrendered it...at the time I didn't expect to ever want to live in the US again, but who knew I'd meet my American husband 13 years later or whenever it was?

But that's no reason to not give me a green card...I just remember the crummy interview they put my mum and me through when I was little, it was not pleasant. With luck my CO will be in a better mood than that guy was.

Hopefully. For a long time they asked like 3 questions and then suddenly at my interview I had like 10! LOL

I think surrendering a green card previously is probably in your favour.
