Hello,

Today I received a letter from the US embassy to tell me that they have received my US fiancee's petition in support of my K1 visa. I now need to fill out form DS-160.

When we started this process I was living in an apartment with a long-term lease. In the intervening months I got to the point where I had to renew this lease

for another year, and I didn't want to risk the financial penalty of breaking the lease if my visa got approved within that year. As a result, a few days ago I moved to another apartment. The person who is now living in my old address is a friend and I have been picking up mail from him.

My question is this: clearly I need to inform someone of my change of address. If so, what is the best way of doing this without putting too much of a delay on the process? Do I simply fill in my new address on the DS-160? Also, I haven't been here for a full week yet, and I am in a house share situation, so other than the lease itself I have little documentation that I have moved. Will I need to wait until I have something more official to submit to prove that I have moved?

Any advice very gratefully received.

I would put your new address in the DS-160. Otherwise, there is a place online on the USCIS website where you can change your address for your current petition.

When I went through K1 petition, I simply put the right address in the DS-160... I had no problem. I even had to change my telephone number and my then-fiance number,
