Retaining the same SSN or getting a new one?

Hi,

I was a holder of an F-1 visa a few years back and at that time I was issued a SSN (that was used with my temporary EAD card, also issued while I was a student).

After that, I went back to my home country, and I am currently waiting on the results of my K-1 application (approved by USCIS so far).

I am interested to know whether I will keep the same SSN that I was previously issued (I'm guessing it might be "reactivated" since it had a limited scope to begin with), or if I must apply for a new one (because this is a different visa maybe?) once I am in the States?

Normally, I wouldn't care one way or the other, however I am in the process of obtaining a professional license in the US (unrelated to the immigration) and the licensing authority wants me to state my SSN (if any) on their forms, so I am curious to know whether I can provide the one I already have if that SSN will not change.

you are given one social security number for the rest of your life, you must put down that number on any immigration form that the number is requested

once you have your EAD, you go to the nearest office to change the card, and once you are a LPR, you will need to go again to change your card
