Hi ya'll. hope ya'all doing great.

I entered u.s on k-1 visa 3 weeks ago. Already got married and we are ready to file AOS.

Q,1 How many forms do we have to fill to send our package ?

Q, 2. Heard the fee for AOS is $1070, is it true?

Q, 3. Do we have to hire an immigration lawyer to do the process done or can we do it on our own?

Tks for the replays in advance :)

Q, 3. Do we have to hire an immigration lawyer to do the process done or can we do it on our own? This is a DIY site, many people here have successfully done their AOS without the need for an attorney.

Tks for the replays in advance :)

Print out your I-94 info > https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

Follow this guide for getting the SSN > http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

Follow this guide for AOS > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

The fees are listed here > http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

And here are the details you need about whether or not you need to see a civil surgeon > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

Hi ya'll. hope ya'all doing great.

Q,1 How many forms do we have to fill to send our package ?

Q, 2. Heard the fee for AOS is $1070, is it true? TRUE, and along with it is EAD & AP application which is advisable. Some Applicants don't apply for AP (temporary travel card) and they regret it.

Q, 3. Do we have to hire an immigration lawyer to do the process done or can we do it on our own? If you've done your K1 processing without a lawyer…. AOS is easy as long you read every instructions carefully and submit all required documents.

My husband and I never used lawyer and we did fine.

Piece of advance "BE PATIENT" :) because there's a lot of delays at USCIS at the moment and also depends how busy your "Service Center".

Tks for the replays in advance :)

I am not filing for AOS yet, just trying to prepare and understand the process.

I was under the impression, we do NOT pay the $1070 for AOS if you enter on a K1?! Do I stand to be corrected?

Where'd you get that idea?

Me?! I can't remember where now... I think it was comparing prices between K1 and K3. And we thought K1 would be the cheapest option, but maybe we should have got married in UK and done CR1! oh well. I just wasn't expecting it to be so much...!
