Oh Man, Jen.....I worry about this kind of thing too even though we live in a pretty small tight-knit community...it's happening anywhere and everywhere lately...you must have been terrified! SO glad your daughter was fine and that the girl is going to live....as others have said, feel *very* sorry for the boy's parents too...as far as we know (re how he was raised, etc.) they haven't done a thing wrong, and I'm sure they're really hurting too. :( Scary world we live in nowdays...cliche, but true. M.

That's scary, no place is safe anymore. I used to think churches and schools are one the safest place one can think of, well, not anymore.

Good to hear your daughter is safe.

I'm so sorry to hear of this tragedy, and glad your daughter is safe. Hopefully they'll have counsellors at the school for awhile to help students who are vicariously affected deal with this. In these cases, everyone is a victim.

Glad to hear your daughter is safe. It seems events like these have become an all too common event.

How much you want to bet the media (and politicians) end up blaming something stupid, like video games or music or even comic books, or whatever.

How tragic. Glad that no one else was injured and I hope the girl recovers. :((F)

It doesn't sound like the typical school shooting - but more in line with an obsessive relationship.

Not to hijack this thread, but there was a school-related shooting last December at my university. A male student drove into town and was obsessed with a female student. He knocked on her door at her apartment, she let him in, and after she turned him down (I suppose he wanted a romantic relationship with her), he shot and killed her and then he committed suicide.

Anyway, the point of that little tale was that relationships "gone wrong" seem to be a recurring theme in shootings.

I think it's an important issue to bring up. I would be in favor of actually having required classes on interpersonal relationships, problem solving, and anger management. Those skills are just as important as anything in preparing teenagers for the real world.
