personally, i really hate it when people throw around the term "dumb americans". i'm sure if they made this video in the UK, morocco, mexico, ANYWHERE it would have the same results. most people in the world ARE dumb. dumb or ignorant. probably both.

It's funny at first and then i just get really sad.

ETA: I remember a study done with university students in florida, something less than the majority could place the atlanitic ocen on the right place on a map.

yah it is funny at first, then gets depressing...wasn't it amazing when they'd place the flag on the map where australia is supposed to be but he replaced it with france, iran, etc, and people believed him?! ugh!!lol

Being Dumb has nothing to do with a person's IQ.

My IQ gets higher every year...I know because when I was young, my parents even made a party for me every year to celebrate, they made a cake with my IQ on top with candles, I got gifts and everything... I hope I get to be an 80 IQ someday but will need a really big cake..

I have to imagine that's all a joke -- that students can't really place foreign countries. I could see missing some (Luxembourg, for instance, is really difficult to find without a magnifying glass) and some countries look similar or sound similar, but overall, I'd imagine that most Americans could place the majority of countries. At the very least, the so-called major ones.

I know I can find foreign countries pretty easily, but then again, I actually paid attention in school and studied on my own as well. I doubt very many people do this. They're probably too busy getting drunk and partying.

there's a difference between states and countries, I know where Netherlands is, but I don't remember where is the Limburg province or Noord holland province.. but well, I dunno the geoggers curriculum in American schools.. I know that at least in soccer watching countries they know where the other countries are...
