Hello everyone. My question is if anyone has heard aboput extensive background check for applicants from Muslim countries like Turkey, after the interview . My friend has been declined and has to go through extensive background check because he is a muslim from Bosnia, so I am afraid that my fiance will have to go through the same process because he is coming from Turkey. Does anyone know how long this process take? They kept his passport and said they would notify him shortly after the interview about further actions....

Keeping of the passport is good. Usually the post-interview is one week......we've seen a unique special case that took a year.

Go to the applicable regional forum and determine from there what the average wait times are.

I believe AP takes a while for men from predominantly Muslim countries.

My uncle was in AP for about 1.5 years (although he was coming on a family visa and decided to come by himself).

Keeping the passport is a good sign (in my uncle's case, they gave it back to him).

Hopefully, you'll get the visa soon!

It seems unlikely that they will do AP just because a person is a muslim. I think there must be some other reason like name or some red flag that popped up rather than just religion, but with current muslim problem in the media anything is possible now i guess.

Everybody gets AP.

Some take longer than others.

Reasonable to expect they will be more thorough.
