Hello everyone!

I checked my status online and it said the the I485 is ready for an interview to be scheduled. I know lots of people get approved without an interview, but I guess for me I will have to have it.

My wife and I already bought the tickets to fly for 10 days to the east cost, and I am afraid I might have my interview during those days when we are away on vacation.

The status changed today, How much time does it take until I have the interview?

What are some of the advice to pass the interview and not get denied? like what are the questions? what should we take with us ?

Thank you!!

It will depend on your local USCIS office as to how long it will take to get an interview scheduled.

Many of the K-1 adjustment interviews are fairly quick and smooth. They ask the basic questions and repeat some from the I-485. They may want to see proof of co-mingling of finances and co-habitation.

My status changed to "Ready to Schedule" in July. We just had the interview today (12/10) if that gives you an idea of time frames. I was actually a little surprised it took that long, but then again, so did everything else :)

The interview is relatively easy. Make sure you have joint accounts or both names on credit card bills, lease agreements, mortgages, utility bills, etc. More pictures of you together and with family also help. Like Kay said, they will ask questions from the I-129F application (both of you) and then questions from the I-485 application (any drug use, trafficking, terrorist tendencies, military training, etc.). Only the Visa holder can answer those.

Good luck.

Don't sweat the interview! It is very easy for legitimate couples. Joan spent half of our interview talking to our interviewer about Filipino food!

Thank you for your help.

Everyone's case number starts with MSC, since they are all sent to the NBC in Missouri. Where did you have your biometrics? It will probably be there, though some have separate fingerprinting locations. You can use the USCIS office locator and put in your zip code to find out your local USCIS office too.
