I have a question can someone help me my husband just arrived here and we filled out application for his visa so that he can get his green card and also I was telling him on the phone we filled out a section so that he can get on his social security card my understanding that his social security card should arrive in the mail as well he was talking to a friend that has been here for a long time in the states tell him that I would have to go and take him to apply for social security card can some one tell me am I right or wrong

The card should arrive within 2-3 weeks, but to ease your mind, just go to your local SS office and they can give you the number.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Checking the box doesn't guarantee an SSN. Many many many people don't get it from that, but some do. As Penguin mentioned, if it doesn't come within a few weeks, just go to the SSA office and apply for it.
