Recent unemployed, filing for various benefits

I am the US Citizen filing for AOS for my new wife. I just lost my job yesterday. I need to know if filing for unemployement, Family Independence (TANF), and Food Stamps ( Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP) will cause issues with the AOS when it comes around. I am actively seeking employement and hope to have a new job soon, but will the fact I applied for these during this period cause us any future issues? Talk about bad timing in this whole process!

Nope, you're good

Please do correct me if I wrong (it has happened!), but doesn't the OP need to prove that the household income is 125% of the current poverty level? Wouldn't a co-sponsor be needed if there was no income? (But otherwise, I agree that the OP receiving these subsidies in and of themselves would not affect the AOS--just the income.)

OP--good luck finding that new job...when you do, be sure to get a letter of employment with salary noted and keep your new pay stubs. You can use them to show you meet the financial requirements without a co-sponsor if the salary is high enough.

According to their timeline, the OP's wife has already filed for AOS. If there is no interview, then it may not come up.

Thank you all so very much! Yes, my husband was still employed when we sent the AOS, he still got employment certificate and salary certificate from the company he was working for. However, after a week of sending the AOS packet he loss his job. ?

I hope you get approved without an interview, Justin Case, but I would still work on the back-up plan to be safe if you are interviewed. Good Luck.
