Hi everyone,

My sister used to be F3,but when she got divorced she became F1 and she just came to the US about 2 months ago. She just got her Green Card and SS # so she wanted to file paperwork to have both of her children to come to the US but I have no experience in it. Does anyone know what are the paperwork that she should file? Now, when she was under F3, both of her children were already approved by the NVC and they were just waiting for the interview date. But because my sister got divorced about 1/2 a year before the interview dates and because they both were over the ages of 21 so they couldn't come over with their mother at that time. But during the interview, the interviewer told my sister that, once she got to the US she can file the paperwork to have her kids come over within a year or 2. I really want to start the paperwork ASAP so if anyone has any experience with this process, please help me!

Thank you very much for your time!

Anna

Follow the Guides on this website.

It's 7-8 years for a green card holder to petition for an unmarried child over age 21. It is not one or two years. My green card holder brother filed for his unmarried over 21 years old children from Vietnam. He filed in 2010. We expect them to immigrate in 2017.

Hello,

Were your brother and his son has the same situation like my sister? If, so what kind of paperwork did he filed to have his son come over to the US?

Thanks,

Anna

It's the exact same situation. LPR parent petitioning unmarried child over age 21. Your sister is exactly like my brother.
