K-1 and Health Insurance?

first off, please forgive me if this has been addressed before.. I honestly did search, but the search bar was bringing up results from a while ago or just cases that weren't similar and I was becoming overwhelmed. don't jump on me if I sound stupid. But how does a K-1 visa holder get health insurance? I think I read somewhere that we are not allowed to use Medicaid/Medicare (?) because of the Affidavit obligations and not being able to use federal funded help (become a public charge?), but on the healthcare.gov website there is this:

Do either of the highlighted things apply to K-1's?

My fiance has health insurance through his work but it isn't very good, so I was hoping to get something a little better if possible. But am I even able to be added to his health insurance or is this something that can only be done after we've adjusted from K-1? I'm a Canadian so I've never had to think about not having coverage, and just browsing through all of the sites has been completely overwhelming and a little simple, straightforward insight from the VJ community would be very much appreciated.

I mean... my husband and i applied for health insurance not too long ago as his spouse and i included all my visa info and what not in the application and it was approved ))) im not sure if it'll work similar with medicaid/medicare.

The market place offers different health insurances that you buy it has nothing to do with medicare. To buy an insurance on the marketplace is perfectly fine

As you can see from the marketplace website, a K1 is eligible for health insurance during the 'adjustment' phase. That means if you have your NOA1 as evidence you are AOSing you can obtain health insurance by purchasing it from the marketplace. But it's not just that, being married is a qualifying life event which means you are eligible to get on your spouse's work or personal insurance plan. Another option can be buying privately; that is what I did with my husband.

I for some reason thought that that Marketplace was just a portal to purchase Medicare/Medicaid, I didn't know that the Marketplace was its own thing entirely.

In response to your initial question, according to the DOS website for I864s, recipients of an immigrant visa are NOT allowed to use Medicaid (see Means Tested Public Benefits section). So from my understanding of this, when you buy insurance through the Market Place, you can't qualify for Medicaid if you list a very low income. But it's totally legal to buy insurance from the Market Place itself.
