Health documents upon arrival

I got approved yesterday, and in the paper they gave says that I need to bring my health check document to show them at the US immigration upon my arrival. So what health check document do I need to bring? Are they the vaccination record and the CD of Lung X-ray?

Secondly, will there be any problem during my arrival if I didn't complete my all vaccine shots in Vietnam?

Oh and how long does it normally take for the visa to be issued?

Thank you!

Civil surgeon's report? DS 3025.

What exactly does the letter say? Do you have any issues with communicable disease such as TB?

Worst case? You could be denied entry. That's a long, lonely ride home.

Yea that would be too bad. But, no, I don't have any kind of sickness or diseases.

I figured what documents they are asking for.

The reason I don't want to complete my second shot of vaccination is that it's really troublesome. Pick your number in the morning, come back to have the shot in the afternoon after 2 hours or so of waiting. My experience on the first time of vaccination was really bad. Don't wanna put myself into that again.

Do you know if there will be any problem if I don't get my vaccine completed upon my arrival?

Hi Anhill,

From what I have been reading around the VJ forum, I was under the impression that Vietnam had a shortage with some of the vaccinations. I have read that due to the shortages that you could get the vaccination(s) done when you arrive in the US. However, I have not actually gone through the process yet here in VN, so I can't speak from experience. I can only tell you from what I read on the forums.

Here is a link to the US Dept of State Bureau of Consular Affairs:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/vaccinations.html

From the link above, it seems that you are required to get certain vaccinations completed prior to getting your visa.

Hopefully, this will help you out and maybe someone else can post an experience of going through the process.

No problem Anhill. Glad that I can be of some help.

I have read that most individuals are urged to get the vaccinations done here in Vietnam. The main reasoning being with the cost here (VN) is far less than it's going to cost you in the states. The only other point is to ensure you bring your current vaccination records with you to see the Civil Surgeon in the US. Otherwise, you may be required to get all of the shots again.

Here is one of the topics similar to what you are inquiring about:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/389669-vaccination-questions/

It seems that you are able to get the vaccinations done in the US as some require intervals, but they will need to be done prior to the AOS. So, I am not sure if you will need to have an adjustment of status done or not. In any event, I hope this information will help answer part of your question.

Best of luck to you guys and congrats on the successful interview.

Have your spouse check on Civil Surgeons in the area where you will be living in the US. They can be difficult to find and are usually a lot more expensive than in VN. And there's a chance that you might have to get the whole series done again. Some can be funny that way and you really don't have a choice.

While waiting a few hours in the hospital may seem like a major problem, I'd suggest sucking it up and getting it done here. It's one less step and few hundred dollars saved when you enter the US.
