MtL Interview - K3

We had our K3 interview this morning. A bit surreal because now we're back here at the apartment like nothing had happened. A bit odd.

There are excellent descriptions of the interview process on this site -- so I won't bore with details. After having dropped off the paperwork and required documents (in the frenzy of pulling the correct documents out of our accordian folder, we never gave them our notarized and certified translation of the birth certificate! -- I don't know how that happened. Oh, well, it's still in our file) we paid $100, dropped off the receipt and waited for the interview.

At the interview, the CO joked about how many Quebecers meet Americans in Florida. He asked my husband what I did for a living, I gave him back-up documentation for the I-134. He also asked my husband if he had ever been arrested or had had a problem crossing the border ("no" to both questions). And that was honestly it. We chit-chatted a bit, but that was it. He said we'd have the visa in the mail by Friday or Monday. We were done in about three minutes.

I was so nervous this morning before the interview -- I wish I hadn't wasted so much time and energy being nervous. It was a pleasant experience.

We got our interview because somehow the Consulate was able to "squeeze" us in. They had had an interview cancellation and they telephoned us at the apartment to see if we could be ready in short order to come for the interview. We had emailed them earlier (a truely pathetic email) that we were living about 1 km from the Consulate -- if they had a cancellation, they could send up the "Bat Symbol", smoke signals, a flare -- anything, and we'd come running. (Hey, if it can work for a hair appointment, why not a Visa Interview?) They never responded to that email. However, then they actually called! And so, that was that.

I've been reading on MtL Time to Interview about the AR for that one CR1 Visa. Well, I hope it puts some fears to rest that we had a successful K3 today. There were lots of other K3ers and at least one CR1 -- everyone had smiling faces and hugs all around when they came out of that interview room.

I actually never thought about asking to be called for a cancellation , since I am living in Montreal as well.....but her I got my date anyways!

Really glad to hear everything went smoothly, mine is in exactly 4 weeks today, so I am trying to not start stressing about it I definitely appreciate the review

hee hee . . . we're so happy, but, man! we're, like 0/200 with rrrrroll up the rim. What's up with that? There will be about 20 empty Timmy's cups in the back of my jeep when we go across the POE. We need to order one of those "roll up the rim" gizmos before we cross the border.

we're still waiting for the visa to arrive in the mail. we've checked the tracking number on canada post -- it's coming! maybe on monday! in the meantime, a rainy walk today at the park du mont royal with the poochies (in the rain, no less).

hmmmm, maybe time for Tim Hortons.

I've lived in Florida for quite a while now, and whereas it wasn't really optimum to be in Montreal in the midst of winter (I was howling I was so cold) -- and being here under stressful circumstances -- now that we're cleaning and packing up the apartment, I find myself becoming sentimental. I've learned about Aeros, CoffeeCrisp, Timmies -- maple syrup taffy, Schwartz, hiking up mont royal -- an ad rep gave us his card because he wants to do a photo shoot of our dog for FIDO commercial -- winter festival, incredible architecture, saying "bonjour-how-ya-doin' " -- I wonder when all the other things will hit me. I'll be in our porch swing at home and I'm sure something else will hit me -- I'll think, "wow, that was a little adventure of sorts . . ."
