I need little advice about phoning to USCIS. Based on my timeline (processing estimates), if everything goes alright I was supposed to get some update regarding my petition on Dec 3-6 (5&6 weekends). I know it does not promise anything, all cases are unique and estimating time is based on what other people have on their time line.

I called there on Friday about this case and said I would like to know what's the current status of my petition - lady on the phone read the first line that website shows and added "it's still being checked (or processed)". Thats it. She had nothing to say for my other questions

I'm gonna make another call tomorrow, but what do I exactly ask them? I dont want them read what's on the website but give me something more

[i'm not in a hurry, just would like to get things done as "majority" do]

I cleaned My Timeline. Hope nobody minds

You received your Noa1 a month ago according to your timeline so you won't get any other answer than what you were given on Friday.

I suppose you could ask to speak to a tier 2 because they are the only ones being able to look closer at your case but it's only been a month..

I think I should give them another week or two. I just checked last 15 approved at CSC, their average from NOA1 - NOA2 is 48 days (min 27, max 90)

I wouldn't bother doing anything yet. There really is no point of doing this unless you've been waiting longer than the 5 months that uscis states is the timeframe for California.

All you will hear is what you can read yourself online.

Unfortunately there really is no point on calling, every time they will give you the same answer, which is the same status that you will see on their website. Besides that they might ask you to submit a status request by mail, to which they will most likely respond with the same status that you see on their website.

Have patience.

That is really a baseless fear, since the people that answer the phones at the USCIS misinformation line are just workers in a call center. They read from scripts mainly and can only see the same status info as you can online. They have no part in the adjudication process of any case files.

Ok good to know. So there is ZERO chance ever talking to the person who is actually working our case then.

We got exactly the same answer from the agent. They can't really tell what's exactly happening with our case. Our NOA1 date is Oct.20 and until now (49 days) still haven't heard anything. A lot says every application is different, others just get too lucky being approved in just a matter of 3 weeks. While others, like me, only God knows when we'll get approved. Hoping for something before the holidays tho.

The good thing is that your case is being processed at the California center. If not, you'd be looking at 5+ months.

I got lucky on that. Based on my residency my case was supposed to be in Texas

Average is average. Half will be faster, half will be slower. You, obviously, will be in the slower half. I can all but guarantee you that you will hear something within 4 weeks (and honestly, probably something this week, but I won't guarantee that). If you're worrying about NOA2 for an I-129f from CSC 24 hours after your Visajourney estimate has lapsed, you're setting yourself up for a HUGE amount of disappointment throughout this whole process.

The official timeline for an I-129f at CSC is 5 months (see here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do;jsessionid=abcPGRYcBXOeTb1RoOcgv . The information here is from other VJ members, it is not an estimate from the government. It is to allow you to get an idea of what is really happening (which is that they're averagint 33 days). If you hit the 5 month mark, THEN they will look into your case for you. Not before. Anything faster than 5 months is a gift.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!
