Hello guys (Asalmo alikom),

I need an advice for my sitaution. I am a naturalized american. My fiancee is from Morocco. We've been together for five years now. I am planning to marry hervery soon and start the process of bringing her to live with me in the US. I know that we have 2 routes. K-1 Visa or CR-1. I am not sure which one to go with.

If I go with the K-1, It's faster and less documents . But from what I understood, if we choose the K-1, we can't get married in Morroco becuase it is a fiancee visa and we should remain single till we marry in the US ((correct me if I am misatken on this point). As most of you may know, we are both muslims, and she can't leave Morroco with me unless she is my wife. That leads us to the other route: CR-1 Visa, but tha is a vey long wait as I read and too much work. Which route should I proceed with?

Can I apply for K-1 and still do the marriage in Morocco before we fly to the US or that is not legal? Please advise me.

Thank you to all of you who can help me.

Thank you to all of you who can help me.

If you want to marry in Morocco, then you must go the CR-1 route.

Keep it simple CR1 all the way.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thanks Aaron. Is it still illegal if we did a religious ceremony only in Morocco, then did the civil marriage in the US?

DO NOT DO ANY MARRIAGE IN MOROCCO IF YOU WANT TO USE THE K-1.

This is not hard. ANY MARRIAGE IN MOROCCO, then you need a CR-1.

can I still apply for the CR-1 even though we won't be living together after we issue the marriage in Morocco? and for the interview of CR-1, we must show up together or just her?
