AOS interview on Thursday, need help!

Hi everyone!

So, my husband and I have our interview on Thursday. We have a lot of bonafide marriage evidence, so I'm not worried about that, but I have two questions:

They ask for the US citizen's birth certificate. My husband was born in the Netherlands and moved here when he was 15, he doesn't have one now. Is that ok??? I am freaking out now because we don't have it.

And second, it says,

Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records.

Do they mean EVERYTHING we submitted for our AOS??? Do I have to fill out all of the forms again?

Sorry I cannot help with the birth certificate issue. Joan and I brought EVERYTHING--including our entire I-129F package. The interviewer had a huge binder with everything we had already sent. She basically flipped through her binder and stopped occasionally to check/confirm information. She then asked if we had documents that we would like to add to the file. We gave her health insurance and 401K information (I think--it was two years ago). Gather what you can from the past, but focus on the present. The vast majority of things we brought never left the five manila envelopes that we had organized all our things! YMMV Good luck!

Bring the originals and copies of the important documents you had to provide, such as birth and marriage certs. Those types of things. Take whatever the USC petitioner/sponsor used as proof of US citizenship. Also take along proof of co-mingling of finances and co-habitation.

Hi,

For the proof that he is a citizen, what did you submit? My husband submitted his birth certificate to show that he was born in the usa. If you didn't submit his birth certificate originally, then nothing to worry about.

Bring all the originals that you submitted with the application + proof that your marriage is legit.

I brought to my interview:

- passports for both

- ids for both

- ss for both

- my ead card

- my old visa

- i-94 card

- husband's birth certificate (since that is his proof of "gaining citizenship")

- husbands taxes and w2s that he submitted for the application

- employment verification letter for both (we both work so I took both just in case, but your husband's is a must since he is applying for you)

- joint taxes

- landlord letter stating we live together since marriage

- joint bank account statements (last 2 statements were enough)

- phone bills (joint)

- health insurance letters stating we have the same insurance

- car insurance with both of our names

- misc stuff like receipts for furniture

Our IO took copies of our joint taxes, bank statements, letter from landlord and 1 picture.
