Hi all

I've left things really last minute as I've been so swamped and stressed out at work and also suffering with bad morning sickness *cry me a river*

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has experienced the medical in London whilst being pregnant? I've got mine on Weds morning!

Do I need a letter from my GP saying how far I am? I requested one but they've said to me £25 which I'd rather avoid if I can. I have my booking in appointment letters from the midwife and my hospital with my due date and I also have my ultrasound date letter from the hospital. Would this be enough or are they quite ####### with this kind of thing?

Also, does anyone know if they still make you do the X-ray when pregnant?

Tuberculosis screening is covered in the Technical Instructions for Panel Physicians, specificallty this document http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/pdf/tuberculosis-ti-2009.pdf

Women who are pregnant are required to have a CXR to immigrate. Pregnant women must provide consent for the CXR. Pregnant women receiving chest radiographs should be provided abdominal and pelvic protection with double-layer, wrap-around lead shields.

*CXR is Chest X-Ray

Make sure they provide the required proper protection.

They will offer you a lead skirt like a kilt. You wrap it around. It weighs a tonne! I had one on when I was xrayed (not for visa purposes) and it was hospital policy that all women of childbearing age wear this kilt thing, "just in case".

I just had mine last month and I was 5mos pregnant at the time. My ultrasound scan report with due date was sufficient. And I was not given a lead skirt, it was just a single piece of material I had to hold at my back to shield the baby.

Married since 2001. Lived in USA for 5.5yrs, UK for 9yrs, back to USA in 2016.
