The only thing clear to me is that not even POTUS understands immigration stuff. People here in the VJ forum know more about immigration matters than most Americans and that includes immigration attorneys! How can politicians or citizens even discuss immigration when it is clear that most everybody is ignorant? I heard one of the Republican candidates talk about the San B. mass killer like she was on a visitor visa. Saying she was 'visiting' the U.S.!

Laws and policies don't change that fast here in the U.S. I doubt anything will change for most K1 (or any type of visa) filers right now.

I honestly do not care about the scrutiny they put us through so long as KM at Accra embassy is fired

You are so right. I can't stand her.

There will be changes and slowdowns for sure. Times are changing - unfortunately. I am grateful that we finished the process this year. I feel bad for those still in the midst of the process or about to file. I wish everyone in that situation the best.

The prez made a blunder in saying the terrorists in San B arrived on VWP

but it was K1...that's corrected in todays news .

cant paint everyone with the same brush but special attention will be & should

be paid to all coming in from regions that have proven to have fanatics because

we all would like to continue to be in malls, stadiums & events without being in

danger...Neither should it matter what visa is applied for.

About half an hour ago on CNN they were interviewing an ex FBI operative and asking about checks and how it was done in Saudi and Pakistan and what sort of cooperation they received.

Essentially none so the checks are just smoke and mirrors.

I've had messages and a couple of phone calls today from seven people I know very well, asking "isn't that the Visa you came in on"? Sounded more like an accusation really, and less of a question.

Seriously? Yes in fact, I did arrive on that Visa. Would you like to come and check out what I've got stowed around the house?

I think it will get harder, at least for a time, in a sort of a knee jerk reaction of the oh-my-goodness-we-screwed-up-and we-better-be-seen-to-be-doing-something ilk.

I'm glad I'm done with the nonsense, until my 10 year green card wants renewing. I do feel for those who are, or will be, attempting to get through the system now.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Here is the way I see it. There have been many thousands of K1 visas approved and there was ONE incident like this as a result and many people believe we should end K1 visas (sadly including some of my own family). On the other hand no one blinks an eye at the fact that our Southern border is wide open which allows many violent felons to come here uncheked and commit violent crimes. It seems to me that is a much bigger threat to us than people who want to come here and get married and be in the system paying taxes and following the law after background checks and jumping through government hoops. Me and my fiance were considering filing for a K1 visa. We have now decided to get married first and file for a CR1 visa so we can have a wedding for her family before she comes here. I hope the stupidity and sheer ignorance of many Americans (including most politicians) doesn't affect our CR1 visa application which we plan on filing after we get married in February. I also hope it doesn't affect the thousands of other couples attempting to do things the legal way by filing for K1 and CR1 visas. In my opinion more effort should be made to stop people from coming here illegally and make things more streamlined for people trying to follow the law. The numbers show illegal aliens pose a far bigger threat to our national security than legal immigrants do.

I've just been sent a link. It goes to a FB page, somebody called Laura Ingram, who is apparently some sort of public figure.

K-1 visa applications for fiancées have low denial rate, provide opening for terrorists

The photo with the article shows a cake top bride and groom in one panel, and a hand grenade next to it. Good grief.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
