I would take receipts to show that you covered all expenses, I guess the ticket was the biggie, because it could look odd to the CO.

That will vary from one person to another, so whatever you have.

Trust me they will ask you for bank statements and check stubs, I am not sure what will happen if you don't have a bank account but they want to make sure you can afford your own expenses, what if your friend changes her/his mind and doesn't pay for your expenses... chances are my friend :)

Thank you. But what of you don't have a lot of cash in your bank? This is why my friend is paying for me.

I thought it was because you paid for her visit?

She won't change her mind she already completed the affidavit to say she will pay for all expenses. She also has provide an invitation letter.

I 134? Unenforceable and generally considered a negative.

It would have been much better if she had paid her own way to South Africa and you could show that money to pay your own way to the US. Best bet now is to document the money you paid for her trip.

Having a girlfriend in the USA and not enough cash to afford a trip are not strong ties to South Africa.

Strong family ties are not enough. You need to prove to the C.O. that life in SA is so much better than in the USA. That said some strong home connections include:

1. Own a nice home.

2. A great job that pays well.

3. Strong family ties like relatives you care for and you cannot afford to leave them without care for several weeks.

4. Own your own business/store.

5. No "friends" or family in the USA.

Job details are part of the application.
