My wife & I just got notice of our Interview. She came into states in May and we were married in June. It asks for the I-693 Medical exam to be completed before the interview. Is that something our family Dr. does, or is it a Government DR. that has to do it?

An I-693 can only be completed by a designated civil-surgeon.

How did your fiancé enter the US on a K1 without first going through the embassy interview a pre requisite of which is a med check at SLEC?

You wife will most likely not need the whole medical exam but only the vaccinations part of it, however, most civil surgeons will rather do the whole medical again.

I'm confused.

Usually this is done to make sure the applicant is up to date with all their vaccines and other medical concerns, I myself did not go

a whole medical exams since my previous medical exam at St.Luke was still valid upon my AOS application,that was in 2009.

Doesn't the interview letter state it is needed unless already submitted?

How long ago was the K-1 medical done? Were all the vaccinations marked off on a DS-3025 then? If so, you may not need to see a civil surgeon for the I-693.

If she completed all her vaccinations with SLEC then she does not need to complete the I-693. There are some steps that you must be aware of and I outline them here. <click here>

This should explain what you need to prepare for the interview. Please have the documents that are quoted so that you will have very little problems getting approved.
