Grand Compromise

  1. 1. Would you support a compromise, Universal Background Checks for Universal Conceal Carry

    • Yes, I would support the Compromise
    • No, I would not support the Compromise
  2. 2. My previous answer was based on the following

    • I support private ownership of firearms, but do not believe in compromising my rights
    • I support private ownership of firearms, and see this as a strong balance and constitutional
    • I support private ownership, but not conceal carry and do not want to compromise on the issue.
    • I support private ownership but it is limited to single action / non semi autos
    • I do not support private ownership and feel all sales of firearms should end and people should be forced to turn in their weapons

I would imagine that to any family member of someone who has been killed by a gun, they would think they've sacrificed much more than a little of their security.

I've brought this up before. In the areas where gun violence is so commonplace kids making out wills before they hit 18(Jay Z song reference) those folks don't even want guns.

There's a few other rights we could get rid of that would prevent deaths. Why not place armed troops in every house? They could monitor every citizen in that home to prevent any violence. While we're at it, let's take away the right to assemble and the right to free speech. Those two rights are there just to instigate.

You can bring up the people who have been killed by guns but don't forget the people who died for this country protecting these rights, all of the rights, not just the ones that are meaningful to you and I.

By the way, I am totally winning this conversation. :P

The only hope that the 2nd will ever get changed will be in generations to come. There needs to be a change in the way people view guns before there can be changes made. As long as a gun is viewed as the Holy Grail, the 2nd will remain in tact. It's unfortunate that the rights to own a killing machine are protected more than the rights of the people that are killed by it.

On the right to assemble, you might have a point. That is taken to extreme far too often. But the freedom of speech is the greatest of all our freedoms I believe. Without that freedom, we would have a dictatorship and more than likely be slave labor for a king. Of course that king would be you, but it would still kinda stink for most of us underlings.

I don't ever forget the people who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country. That's what gives us the freedom to sit here and dope slap each other via the intranets.

If by "winning the conversation" you mean you really like the atomic wedgie I just gave you, then yes you are most definitely winning.

Where are all these killings by guns common place ?

By the way, the point behind this discussion, how to possibly have a mental health requirement, is really fascinating. Along with, are we willing to give away some of our rights for our safety. I really wish that Sussudio had been here for this discussion. He's one of the really knowledgeable gun people who is also very reasonable. I'd like his opinion on some of this.

I'm just a guy who doesn't own a gun but still has respect for all of his underlings.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Guns are an easy tool to use for killing someone.

Why would I want to apply for a CC permit?

Hi all,

Sorry have been out at meetings all day. Just catching up.

How about mandatory liability insurance, for people whose guns get used to commit crime?

I think this has been brought up in the past. I don't see any way for insurance to cover criminal acts that I am aware of.

There is insurance showing up though for people who conceal carry.
