Hello,

I believe I have all the paperwork ready to send to my Fiance in Thailand. I need to verify what exactly needs to be sent.

I currently have:

Copy of her Passport (her son is getting his in a week)

Copy of both her and her son Birth Certificates

Copy of her son's last name change

Copy of Single Status for her

Copy of Perminant Custody

Original DS-2001

Original DS-160

Original copy of passport style photos of her and her son (2 copies)

Original Confirmation of Registration of GSS including Payment form and copy of Reciept (only for her as we cannot register her son and pay fee till he has his passport)

Original Evidence of Financial Support including 1040 Tax form for 2014, Copy of W2 for 2014

Original Letter from my work stating hire date, salary, and dates

Original Letter from my Bank certifying my account and deposits

Original Police Background form for her

I also am sending her copies of all Original NOA1 letters and receipts for K1 Visa 156 forms and all letters including I-797.

How much of this needs to be sent in response to the Packet 3. Also what address does this need to be sent to? Can she deliver this herself instead of mailing it if she is near Bangkok. Is there a cover letter needed with basic information? Am I missing paperwork to send in for Packet 3 response.

I am wondering if all we need to send is the DS-2001 readiness form and bring all of this with her to the Interview including Evidence of Relationship and Medical Examination prior to the Interview.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I would like to send this to her as soon a possible.

Thank you in advance!

If you're missing something you can always have your fiance bring it to the interview.

1. I think you have enough for packet 3. But the 1040 and W2, I sent in those for the past 3 years not just current year. As I have seen my cases got 221G from that. I know it said on the website that they require only current year. But to be sure you should send all 3 years to them.

2. All of the documents in packet3 are highly recommend to write your case number start with BNK on the top right of each papers with pencil. Except the police certificate.

3. The only way to send in packet3 is through mailing. Addressed as below. I recommend you to send it only EMS or registered mail. So you could always track your package. Plus on the bottom right of the package you should write " K1 Visa ".

4. Cover letter is not required

5. On her interview she need to bring extra paper work below.

  • Interview date confirmation (Print it out from e-mail)
  • DS160 (Print it out one more time to be safe.)
  • Original of Single Status for her
  • Original of Birth Certificates for both
  • Original of Thai ID card
  • Original of Household Registration for both. (Depends on your case some do but some don't)
  • Original of letter of intent to marry. (You can just update to the current date and sign it again. Somebody get 221G for not having that. But in my case they didn't ask for it.)
  • Medical examination. Do not open the envelop
  • Evidences of relationship
  • NOA1 / NOA2 / Copy of I-129F are not required but she can take it to be safe.

Nam9482, can you please fill in your timeline to help the rest of us keep an idea of how long people ahead of us are taking in the process?

Everything you have noted above looks good to me but you are a bit further along than I am. Good luck!

IIPenny, your kind of scaring me with the 3 years worth of 1040s or W2s. Can you point me in the direction of the people that had issues because of this? I am about to send everything to my fiance tomorrow and really do not want to delay things to get 2 more years worth of IRS documents. I am well above the income threshold and have evidence that I have had the same job for over 10 years. Is it possible that people who had issues with only one years history also were below the 125% of poverty level and had cosponsors etc...?

I knew 2 couples that had this issued. One of them had an income over than 125%. But after the recent tax year the US citizen quited a job and headed to university. So that might be a reason for more tax return requirement? The other couple didn't know why they need the past 3 years tax income. They just got asked for it. Well, both of these cases were back in around 2009-2010. So you know, it was a long time ago things could change. There are many people pass the interview with only one recent tax return year. So don't worry if you couldn't have more than what you have. I just mention it because most of people prepare it for "just in case" situation. And it's really just get those from IRS then you can scan it to your fiance. Then have her carry it to the interview.
