Preparing I-130 with an incorrect date

Hello,

I'm preparing our I-130 for submission now. As part of our front loading, my wife and I are including statements about how we met, how our relationship has progressed, how we communicate. I just noticed she accidentally wrote 2014 instead of 2015 when she signed her statement. I'm planning on including a small note about the error with the translation of her statement (original is in Vietnamese) because it is expensive and time-consuming for us to mail things back and forth. Am I worrying too much, or is this actually going to cause problems?

Thank you.

Such statements are not required to have original signatures, if possible, just have her write another one with the correct date and have her scan and email it to you.

If she can't scan and email you a revised statement with the correct date, then skip the one from her altogether. One letter written by the petitioner supported by evidence of time spent together in-person is how I've seen others (including myself) prepare these petitions.

Including such a statement with the wrong dates would unlikely be a hindrance to approval of the petition by USCIS but could possibly be problematic when a CO reviews the file prior to an interview taking place despite your note explaining the error.

My take is either submit with correct dates or not at all.

Thank you for the reply. I wasn't sure if a statement like this needed an original signature, but unfortunately she doesn't have access to a scanner.

Having her write out a statement by hand in Vietnamese was something the attorney I consulted, but did not retain, recommended. I think the members of this forum have much better experience with the process than any attorney, but that's the background on our decision to include such a statement. I don't know if this attorney always makes this recommendation, but I think he did in our case because our other evidence is on the weak side. We didn't have the traditional Vietnamese engagement, but we did have a traditional Vietnamese wedding. We explain why in our statements.

Thank you.

Agree that you should not submit something with an incorrect data. A letter from your wife isn't necessary if you already have one from you to submit.

My wife and I did not have a traditional Vietnamese engagement ceremony (traditional wedding). I wouldn't worry.

Best of luck!
