Hi everyone, I am new here and could use a bit of help.

So my partner has been dealing with immigration stuff for the last year or so, and when it all started I though everything would work itself out. Well it hasnt, and as a result of me taking a back to seat to everything she is quite upset at my ignorance to her struggle.

A bit of background on her situation-- She came here on visa for school, was married, but divorced before the 2 years neccesary to remove the conditions of her permanent resident status. She submitted all necessary info and worked with her immigration attorney in doing so. We were quite shocked when she heard back that the USCIS was requesting additional information to validate that it was a bona fide marriage. She has since been in touch with her attorny and has a final interview set up for later this month. She just went to a pre interview a few days back.

The brunt of my question here is, what exactly was the pre interview for? What is the next interview (final) exactly about? Is it just a final attempt at giving over paperwork and validating the marraige? I ask because one, she wont tell me about it now (fairly so as I really didnt put in any effort to find out on my own) and also because now that Im scouring the internet I cant really find out what Im looking for.

Thanks for any help, or insights into the i-751 process and the follow up interview that takes place after a request for additional information.

It is not unusual for someone removing conditions with a divorce waiver to be called for an interview or for more evidence to be requested. However I do not believe it is a good sign to be called for a 2nd interview. Did they mention why she wasn't approved after the first interview? Is her divorce finalized yet?

Yes they did, her ex had used his parents address in another city when he filed his taxes, so I am guessing it looked suspicious that they had filed taxes from two different cities. Despite having been living together the entire time. yes, the divorce has been finalized.
