My USC husband lives with me in Sweden and we have made it to the part where we need to fill out the I-864. We have a joint sponsor and he is sending us everything that NVC requests but my concern is my husbands paperwork. When my husband filed his last taxes before moving to Sweden he was given the wrong information that he didn't need to file fireign taxes, we should have double checked this and not just trusted that person.... Thanks to the awesome members here on vj we found out that he has to do his taxes and we filled out 1040+2555-EZ for 2012-2014 and we sent in the papers in the regular mail a few weeks ago. We also sent a letter stating why he hasn't filed the taxes and that we would like to get proof of the filed taxes sent back to Sweden. So my questions are: Does anybody know how long it takes before we get the papers? Do they even send those to Sweden? Is there anything else we can send in with the AOS package that NVC would approve? We took copies of the papers that we sent, can we use them? Or is it better if my husband goes back to the US and visits the irs? Sweden doesn't have w-2s. I just want to give NVC everything they want as soon as possible :)

Thank you for your reply :) I'll have my husband call them first thing on Monday. I was just looking into ordering the transcripts online but they will send them to the last known address, you can change the address but you have to mail a form... In worst case I'll send him home in January, it'll be fun for him to see his family and friends again :)

The I-864 instructions says you can submit a photocopy of all pages of the tax return you submitted. Normally that would include any W2 wage statement from his employer. He did not have an American employer so has no W2. So did he report Swedish wages? If so you might want to make a note clipped to the tax return that says-- Please note that the tax return wages are from a Swedish employer and thus there is no W2 to accompany the return. A wage statement from a foreign employer is not required by the IRS with this tax return. It is a complete tax return according to IRS requirements.

The NVC workers are not tax people, so pointing out tax rules may save an RFE from a robot who has been taught to look for a W2.

Concerning a transcript--

A late tax return mailed a few weeks ago most likely does not have a transcript available yet so you wouldn't be able to get one. When it is available, they send to the mailing address on the requested transcript. If your 2014 filing had the address in Sweden, then that is the address it would have to go to if using an automated request.
