So.... The journey finally begins.

Looking at the requirements for the passport photos, I cannot see any mention of facial expressions that may or may not be permitted. I just see size and background requirements. In the UK our photos for passports and driving licences have to have no facial expression whatsoever. Not a hint of a smile. Everyone looks so grim in their passport photos. Are there any requirements for the I-130? Is a slight smile allowed? I broke my jaw many, many years ago as a child in a vehicle accident and it looks so much better if I can smile a little because then my jaw doesn't look so crooked.

For what it's worth, my US Passport from 2002 has a giant smile. My new one has a slight smile. I haven read the requirements lately, but I don't think smile is prohibited. I also smile in my driver license photos. :P

Can I smile in my passport photo?
Yes. Although we do prefer a neutral facial expression, a natural (unexaggerated) smile is acceptable in passport photos. :)
