AR-11 Temporary Address Change

My wife and I were living with her parents because the rent was so cheap and have recently moved out do to renovations. We have always considered this move to be temporary until the renovations are complete. We did not file an AR-11 because we are still using her parents house as our main mailing address. I understand that an AR-11 must be filed within 10 Days of us moving. BUT, we are planning on moving back.

Should we have filed this form? If so, what are the consequences for not filing it?

The purpose of the AR-11 is not only to update your mailing address but also to inform USCIS where you are living.... so yes you need to file the AR-11, there is a section that is all about Temp change of address... all you can do if file it now... you can do it online....

thanks for the info Kez. My problem now is that we have been here since the end of January. I was suppose to submit the form within 10 days of the change so I'm late which is punishable by fine or imprisonment. Should I still file? This has me worried.

just file it now....

I filed a little late sometimes and nothing happened....

I think it's a good idea to submit the AR-11, however I do not want to change my mailing address as I still have access to the mail because it's my In-Law's address. We plan on moving back there. How do I submit the AR-11 and keep my mailing address the same?

thanks for the feedback!!!

well submitting the AR-11 doesn't really change your address.... it just lets them know of your whereabouts...

in order to officially change your address you have to phone it in....

at least that is what I have been told...

Okay, thanks MarilynP, we filled it out online and sent it in. It was a relief to not have to think about it anymore. we'll see where my mail ends up when I start my I-751.

when you fill out the I-751 make sure and put the address you want it sent to on the forms....

that is what I did and I got the stuff at my new address....
