Affidavit of Support

Hello,

Is the affidavit of support taken to the interview? I'm a student right now, but will be graduating in spring, so I'm hoping to have a teaching job lined up by then, but currently only work part time. So I'm just trying to see if I should get the co-sponsor now or hold of until closer to the interview. Also, my boyfriend has his masters degree from a pretty good school here in the US, where he graduated with a 4.0. Do they take education into consideration when determining if we will need additional support for finances?

You can wait until closer to the interview. No they don't care if the beneficiary has the means or ability to support themselves.

Different consulates have different requirements, but the standard for K-1 interviews is the I-134.

It's a sort of "light" version of the I-864 which you will need for AOS stuffs.

Both are referred to as "Affidavit of Support", so I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the difference!

As for the education thing, unfortunately no, they do not take any of those sort of factors into account. Just income and then assets.
