Getting a SSN

I have some concerns regarding my SSN.. I haven't got it yet.. And it's been 2 months since I entered back in the country with a visa (through marriage) .. I came to the SSN office on the forth week after entering the country. ( I was supposed to get my SSN within 3 weeks since I applied for it along with the visa).. They gathered my information and basically apply for a SSN on November the 2ND 2015. That was 4 week ago

I came today (december the 3Rd) since they told me to.come back if I didn't hear from them or if I didn't get my SSN within those 4 weeks..and they say that my case was still " pending "And also told me that they didn't know how long would it take for migration to "clearance" my information so they could issue a SSN... I've been waiting alot already.. I honestly I can't wait anymore.. I turned down a really good job opportunity just for the fact that I dnt have a SSN... So anyways.

My questions is.. How long do I have to wait?? Or what would you advise me on what to do??

Contact one of your congressional representatives.

Since you're in Texas I would recommend Senator John Cornyn's office. He's a #######, but his staff actually get things done. I have had success with a couple of federal agencies with their involvement - including the SSA.

And how I do that??.. My friend said he had same issue.. And adviced me to wait 2 more weeks?

You can still work, just show the paperwork that shows you have applied for your SSN, the HR department just use a temporary number

Really?????? The only paper I got from my local office has a reference number with my basic information... Is that the paper you talking about??

Ensure that as well as completing the form you also include a separate letter detailing the problem.
