Fee Waiver?

So the USCIS fee for the AOS & EAD Application is $1070. Ouch.

My wife and I are racking our brains on how to pay this before my visa expires, on January 18th. We've come up with a few options but it seems limited.

I read something somewhere that in certain cases, the USCIS will waive a fee depending on your case if you present to them your situation. Have you folks heard of anything like this?

Otherwise ... I know this isn't a wise option, but could I also simply go beyond my visa's expiry time and try to come up with the money in a few more weeks (say, when we both get paid in February)?

Any advice would be splendid.

There is no fee waiver for AOS since you are required to provide proof that your other half won't be public charge.

You're fine to wait. There is no fee waiver for this.

This shouldn't have come as a surprise really. But in worse case you just have to wait until you have the money. It won't look good but it's not like you will get deported or anything.

Curious question, you said you both get paid, how is it you are working already?

I've heard too if you AOS late, that you might need to get another medical, which will add extra fees for you.

May need to do that, even if AOSing on time, yet alone AOSing late.

Correct - I file mine nice and early and it'll be the last one I file in Canada, which'll be deposited in my bank account.

It may be less than you expect just fyi. I thought mine would be about 1k but was about $250.

You do not need to file for AOS before your I-94 expires. Fyi your visa expired upon entry.
