i heard something interesting on NPR yesterday - and it's this:

The FBI and DoS stopped doing FB and email checks in 2014, by mandate. Prior, they did many. I keep hearing about 'mandatory FB reviews' in conjunction with that report, but I can't place the content.

It was certainly a big part of our three interviews in July and August 2014.

So they are saying they got an RFE that was never responded to and provided no evidence/conflicting evidence that they had ever met and they still got approved.

Yeah, something is off. I'm certain they were processed at CSC, but I haven't heard where a petition gets processed without response to an RFE? Rather strange and I tend not to believe it. The article said "vet" the application, but USCIS doesn't seem to do much vetting; just make sure the petition meets the first criteria. I would suspect if they sent one photo of themselves together, that would be sufficient to overcome the RFE.

Relatively the same article over at WaPo but with a few extra bits of info. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2015/12/19/tashfeen-maliks-visa-sloppily-approved-according-to-congressman-who-reviewed-immigration-application/?hpid=hp_rhp-top-table-main_pn-malik-1058am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory

Again it's saying they got an RFE but managed to get approved without ever responding to it. Someone at CSC is going to be in serious trouble.

Apparently this Rep wants both petitioner and beneficiary to go through in-person interviews (how in the heck would that work?!) and to review work and education history (isn't that what the questions on the DS-160 are for??) and review social media (this one is nearly impossible to do thoroughly).

That's hard for me to believe. I've not heard of one single case on VJ where someone had a K-1 approved or I-129F after not responding to an RFE.

I don't believe it either. I've been here quite a while, and never seen that. Plenty of denials for not responding to one though. I think that as no one in the press seems to understand the process, and can't be bothered to educate themselves, they are reduced to making nonsense up. An explanation if you will, a way of trying to explain how this person, someone they say was correctly vetted, got in.

I think until 'they' know what 'they' are talking about, 'they' better just not say anything at all.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

They had help on the inside. No proof of meeting in person. An open rfe. Looked at by USICS and the state dept.

No way

something is definitely up. it's aggravating the general public is clueless about the process and doesn't even know this info is suspect..

Well people, let's face some realness here. The only reason any of us know anything about the process is because of this site. And we can't expect a lay person who just watches the news to find out about VJ, create an account, post a thread in here about this topic, and then believe anything we say. So they simply go by what mainsteam media "teaches" them. And that's sad, but it's the reality of what goes on everyday among any multitude of topics. We only know no one has been approved with an open RFE because of the countless threads we stumble upon everyday where someone is talking about RFE's. Our knowledge is based on experience of being on this site for years & reading countless threads about various topic. That makes our knowledge real. But it's not like the media is gonna post in here to ask us our thoughts.

but bob goodlatte should know a thing or two about the process..however, if i had to judge by his statements - he knows about as much as joe blow on an 'BUILD THE WALL" rant. this in particular:

"The immigration official reviewing Malik's application requested more evidence to ensure the two met in person but it was never provided and her visa was approved anyway," Goodlatte said.

He added that the only pieces of evidence provided to show that the couple had been in Saudi Arabia at the same time -- where they are said to have married -- were a statement by Farook and pages from their passports.

However, the exit month and date on Malik's passport was illegible, Goodlatte said, citing a translation provided by the Congressional Research Service.

Furthermore, Malik had a visa that was valid for only 60 days, which showed her entering Saudi Arabia in early June 2013 while Farook's passport indicated he did not arrive until Oct. 1, casting further doubt on whether they were in the country at the same time.

"Even if Farook and Malik were in Saudi Arabia at the same time, this does not provide evidence that they met in person," Goodlatte said.

The Republican congressman accused President Barack Obama's administration of refusing to take necessary steps to fully vet visa applicants and said his committee was working on a bill "to strengthen visa processing security and protect national security."

"Visa security is critical to national security, and it's unacceptable that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services did not fully vet Malik's application and instead sloppily approved her visa," he said.

How about FULLY VETTING the Straw Gun purchaser Marquez?

That guy right there! I'm glad he's facing immigration fraud charges! I can't believe his story at all!! "Oh no! My two guns should have been safely stored with the guy I planned murderous attacks with three years ago!! I had no idea he would do something like this!! (Even though we planned to do something exactly like this...)" What a grrrrr, I won't even say such words here....against the TOS.

All I read here is that USCIS has now become the target of someone in our government, and for the wrong reasons. They should be being targeted for being slow in processing applications and for having processes that are not processed fairly. Instead, we get this. False accusations that sound like fact about something being approved on an open RFE. Show me the documents. Then I'll believe that this occurred. Wait, no I won't. Even if they do show me the documents, I'll just believe it's another false flag terror event created by the government to again attempt to steal even more of our civil liberties & keep the giant unwavering war machine against "terror" rolling.
