What are you guys expecting DOS or USCIS to do anyway?

There is no fool proof way to check someone intention or read minds.

If anyone is a mind reader like this guy, please apply to DOS, USCIS, FBI, CIA ..etc

sort of makes sense that it was a female able to pull it off, if she was radicalized prior to entry (which my guess is she was) since so much more scrutiny is placed on males.

That would be USCIS.

Who is under DHS. Can't exactly say they're keeping the homeland secure.

On another note, the caveat people aren't thinking about it maybe this was not planned from before she left Pakistan. Maybe it was planned here in America, in which case USCIS would not've found anything.

I think it is ridiculous for an entire religion to be demonized for the acts of a few. As a Christian I don't see anybody blaming me when a right wing nut shoots up planned parenthood. I see no freaking reason why all Muslims should automatically bear the brunt of a few terrorists. I am yet to see any Christian organization publicly apologize for any violent acts committed by its members. The visa waiver program should be changed. All those on the FBI's watchlist should not be able to buy guns. Every gun sale loophole should be blocked. Universal background checks should be introduced. We can NEVER stop every lone wolf attacks but we sure can make it a little difficult for things like these to keep happening on a regular basis . Prayers to the victims and their families.✌✌

Because virtually all Christians oppose what he did, and killing with any christian motivation is extremely rare compared to doing it with an islamic one (responsible for virtually all terrorism the world over. In the West we get just a tiny taste of it but globally there are thousands of islamic terrorist attacks per year) Polls have shown that very significant minorities of muslims in western nations support terrorism (google it, you might not like what you find out, but these are from reputable surveyors). http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11433776/Quarter-of-British-Muslims-sympathise-with-Charlie-Hebdo-terrorists.html

Here's another survey referenced by Pew: http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/11/17/in-nations-with-significant-muslim-populations-much-disdain-for-isis/In Turkey alone 5M people have a favorable view of ISIS, and another 10M+ "don't know". In Nigeria another 25M people hold a favorable view. Turkey is right next door to ISIS. I wonder if they enjoyed the video that hit the news yesterday of young kids being given handguns and playing hide and seek with prisoners; if they find the prisoner they get to kill them. The notion that only a tiny percentage are radicalized is completely untrue and not based in statistical reality.

As to the laws you just mentioned, this guy wasn't on the list, and he passed background checks, so changing laws for those would have done precisely nothing for this scenario.

I don't think it's millions, but the number is high - perhaps several hundred thousand.

Not only is it millions, it is actually in the hundreds of millions if you include not only those willing to engage in terrorism but those who support it.

Every poll of even western muslims, who in theory are more enlightened to western values than those in other parts of the world, shows very substantial numbers of sympathy toward terrorism.

As to this thread:

http://thehill.com/policy/finance/262135-scrutiny-falls-on-marriage-visas-after-san-bernardino-attack

Republicans on Friday called for a comprehensive review of the U.S. visa system after reports that the female attacker in the San Bernardino mass shooting pledged allegiance on Facebook to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The FBI said these two weren't on any watchlist, but the husband had a few contacts with 'soft targets' (whatever that means). I am wondering if she was even in AP? Probably not. I have been rather surprised at some approvals. Being threatened with fraud once, then getting the visa issued in a few days during the second interview. Wow! Lying on a visitors visa once, then getting the visa issued on a fiancée visa. So surprising things happen....

i would think that with the amount of data collected on an individual and their partner there are rarely cases that actually come out screaming fraud or terrorist ties. the ties are embedded in so much useless information, lots of times it's only after the fact that links are seen in the raw data.

when i had my interview, they had a list of names in my folder (that i could see through the glass). at first i was really puzzled but then i noticed the list of names was for one of my old addresses and all of the people on the list were people who had rented the house after i'd left. my boss owned the house so, i recognized some of the names (although i didn't know or work with them). when they asked me about the names and i stated i didn't know them but that i used to live at the address and my employer owned the house, they were satisfied with that answer. it struck me as odd that they had that particular information about an address that i had lived in years before but now i realize that the process involves collecting an absurd amount of seemingly random data - and without some assistance, a fowl up on the applicants part or blatant misrepresentation, the dots (if there) are extremely difficult to connect.

-not that there were any dots to connect in my case, just sayin.

Why does she get the credit for all 14 kills? The family lawyer said she couldn't have done it because she only weighed 90 lbs. Also she was Pakistani not Saudi.

Just sayin'...the facts matter.

Why does Eve get credit for the downfall of man, when it was Adam who ate the Apple.

He was under the power of the *****. Wimmens parts.

They both participated. Both guilty. Both dead.

I understand that adjusting to a new country can be stressful and you want to retain much of your original culture; however, please keep this sort of mess in your original country. You get freedom of religion here, we don't have a death penalty for practicing your religion of choice. Coming here (or any country) and killing civilians is a bad idea and doesn't help 'your cause' much.

Imagine beginning to renovate your home to build your dream home. Your children are growing and both your sons are working and helping with the family home. Your older son gets married and your youngest son is going to attend a university. But then, you need to abandon your home and whole way of life because your neighbors threaten to kill your sons because of their jobs. Now, instead of living in the city that you work at, you need to take a taxi an hour to work each way. You need to pay rent instead of the home you built that has no mortgage. My family had to flee for decades from oppression, and they almost were able to stop fleeing and settle in their home for good.

Keep your ideologies that cause these problems over there. It's not right that they happen over there, but that doesn't mean those problems need to migrate too. It doesn't make any sense - they couldn't migrate back to KSA rather than murdering 14 people and wounding 21?

"Honey, I hate it here. I know, let's kill your coworkers that threw us a baby shower!" Just sick.

Someone missed a fact check. In his address, Our President said the female shooter was admitted on the VWP. He said there will be reconsideration of the criteria and such.

Am I missing something? In the transcript he said "visa program" she came in on not "visa waiver program". I am definitely not an Obama supporter and would love to make him look like a fool but semantics do matter.

No, the transcript is missing the "waiver" word. After I read you post, I went back and watched his speech again. He begins speaking about it at 6:19 through 6:28.

So Obama might have unintentionally added the word 'waiver' in his speech, but either way, there was a miscommunication or disconnect somewhere along the line.
