Hello guys!

It's on the news that the woman shooter on San Bernardino Shooting is holding a Pakistani Passport and entered the US thru K1 Visa...

I just hope and pray that it doesnt affect all of us who are going through the same process.

Praying for the victims and their families...

:(

It might. When horrible things like this happens, people get scared. :( Wouldn't surprise me if they start looking at tightening the K-1 process rather than looking at the laws that allowed these people to buy and own assault rifles.

Edit: They're already looking into tightening the VWP process due to the terrorist attacks in Paris.

It's crazy how this one was overlooked and how terrorists are really doing everything they can to enter US and perform their evil deeds.

It would be sad for us especially for those people who are living in middle east coz it will surely have bad effect on their process.

But at the same time, it is a good thing that they will be more strict and maybe this time they will conduct more background check for applicants. It's for the benefit of the many.

Posted

But you have to understand that it is hard to find them even with background checks. Many of them live normal lives like everybody else and then later on the just unfortunately radicalize. So background checks can't see in to the future when people change to the worse.

According to the news, this guy was 'completely normal'. It's not something any agency can weed out - they can only reduce the risk by checking backgrounds.

I also read that his parents said they were married for two years? Another article said he 'brought his wife' to the US?

They probably did nikah, which is really a marriage in her country of origin. If so, I find that offensive that they would bind themselves on paper, in front of their religious leaders, but not before my country's officials.

These people are really messed up. The officers opened fire and they died in their vehicle. No one will protest their death, I suspect. A justified police shooting, in my viewpoint.

I believe they will tight things! Not because of what happened yesterday but because of the whole situation everywhere like in Europe, the refugees, Russia and Turkey etc.

Where did you get this information? The man was born in the United States and tightening the K1 visa process would only have prevented one potential shooter. The VWP is actually what needs to be reworked immediately.

The female terrorist came in US with a k1 and then they got married! The male one was an American citizen.

I read it from an online news. Yes, the man was from US and brought his wife/fiance to the US through a k1 visa. Im really not sure about the entire story as to how long has she been living in the US but they only emphasized about her holding a Pakistani passport and entered US through K1

Officials said Farook had left the country and then returned to the United States with Malik in July 2014."

Yeah, liars and murderers.

This is kind of telling to me. Its saying there was some sort of religious ceremony ''two years ago'', in her home country which would probably be a big no-no in wanting to obtain a K1, right?

Supposedly entering on the K1 in July 2014.

So kind of fraudy.

Secondly it seems according to other reports that they ''married'' this spring, when the baby became a complication. But if police can't confirm the nature of the relationship it implies that they never married in any civil way or had any proof as to the marriage that would of fulfilled the legality of the K1 in the first place.

Whatever the case may be, it kind of sounds like the visa was not only obtained via fraud but if the timeline is correct she may have been still residing here illegally.

Yes you're right... most probably she's been residing illegally if she entered the US july 2014 and if police cant tell the nature of their relationship, it means they were never married in the US after entering coz if they did, they would have been registered and their relationship could have been known right away.

I am not familiar with this case (obviously), but I have long thought that the US needs to tighten up its immigration from hot spot countries (i.e. those disproportionately exporting terrorism and anti-western views such as free speech, free press, etc.). Maybe not a popular opinion on this forum, but I hold it nonetheless.

Good luck!

CNN reports that she entered on a K-1 and became married and was a legal permanent resident, so she AOSed just fine.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
