I don't own a gun and, like some others here, know very little about guns. But I'd always assumed that a shotgun was supposed to be the best choice for home defense. Especially for a dufus like me. I can't understand saying shotguns are not needed in homes.

12 gauge with #6 birdshot works very well for home defense. Stay away from buckshot because it has the ability to easily penetrate sheet rock walls and possibly kill or injure the ones you are trying to protect.

some real eye opening stuff, compare a 12 gauge slug to any handgun or rifle.

The same reason why folks make judgements on things they don't know about, it's an opinion. I'm versed in certain weaponry that I was required to be qualified in. Not in weapons for home D. Dave had to school me on that one. She goes no higher than a handgun due to where she was raised and lived. Not knowing and being stupid are two didn't things.

Correct me, I may be wrong bit, don't the bullets spread from a spot gun. Why would I want to shoot a gun in my house, with two beautiful girls, taking the chance the spray might hit them.

Glocks, pistols, handguns, etc, are all good for home invasion. People have been successful with pistols.

Without going into to much detail (chokes etc). The average defensive shotgun (18" barrel) will not spread much inside a home (unless your home is super long). Expect an across the room shot to be say 6-8" maybe 10" tops.

But I think you are fine with your Glock personally if you use hollow points.
