Hi to all! Please help me.My GC interview is this coming Monday and I do not have any valid ID.I only have my expired passport. When I did my biometrics I used my expired passport and it was ok but now I'm freaking out for my interview with no valid ID.I was hoping and waiting to get my EAD but until now there is no update to it and I doubt it will come before Monday. Unfortunately I did not able to get SSN when I first got here and overstay my K-1 visa so there was no way to get any ID.

I've been searching here hoping to find answers but I only searched people have expired passport to their interview but they have other ID's to show..

Please,is anyone here went to their interview with the expired passport only to show? Please help me out! Thank you all!

I am sure you have a birth certificate and proof of your legal address in the US

so, run to the Department of motor veichicles or whereever it is that you get state photo I

One of the requirements in getting state ID is SSN w/c I don't have and valid passport and mine is expired

Depending on the state, you may not need a passport as a primary document, but rather your EAD, GC or I-94 (like NJ). Some states like NJ verify your identity with a "point system" of verification. Unopened utility bills with your name and address on it, a SSN, borth certificate, marriage certificate, etc are all worth a set amount of points. If you have enough credentials to equal their target sum of points, you pass their identification verification process.

Below is a link to NJ's 6 point verification system:

Just out of curiosity, why were you not able to get SSN after arrived before k1 expired?

I agree with your husband. If you had no problem doing the biometrics, you'll probably be fine.

We all understand the stress of the interview, so do whatever you can to relax and not worry. Just remember you are not alone and take deep breaths.

Take the same ID documentation you did for biometrics. It is the same process to get inside the building. Your expired passport should do, but as was discussed for your bio appointment, have a copy of your marriage certificate too. I believe they asked you for that along with the expired passport.
