Good day C&I- We called the national center and the officer said she couldn't confirm nor deny that our information was lost when the I-485 was transferred to a different office. She did say that an arrival stamp from the officer of port of entry on a nonimmigrant visa such as my family visa in this case, should be more than enough proof of legal entry even if the I-94 was lost. They receive cases like this especially from those before the I-94 was issued electronically.

We are sending off all the copies once again. This has become a frustrating journey.

Hi Bugg,

Hello,

That's what I'm wondering too! I've had this status for my Form I-485 since January 11, 2016. On January 22, 2016 they just changed the date "As of January 22, etc....." keeping the same message so I'm a little bit confused.

The status of my other forms is still the same " Case received....". What is your status for the other forms?

I wonder if they will proceed with EAD cards right before the interview... That's what happened to people who had their status changed as "Ready for the interview". At this point, I hope the interview will come pretty quickly. I heard sometimes interviews come after a while so I'm confused as well.

But my timeline says EAD should come approximately end of February so we'll see if the interview comes first or after...

The other two case #'s for the I-130 and the I-765 don't work and never have. We were assigned numbers, but we get an error message when we try to check their case status. We called USCIS about that and they said it's normal as everything runs under the I-485 case number anyway. I checked random case #'s around our and got similar error messages for other case #'s, but then the next case # said I-485 so I assumed they have the same issue and what the USCIS rep told me was true (everything running under the I-485 case number and not to worry about the others as they don't matter for tracking).

No. Honestly, i think if you are a canadian and born in canada (assuming you speak english) you will be fine. (or if you can speak english and are from a VWP type country).

If you cant speak english and are from a third world country then i would recommend it.

FYI the texas center seems to be very backlogged and takes forever!! it seems to be about a 12 month period from when you send it in to interview:/ (if you look at the VJ members profiles) just keep that in mind:(

Hello all,

No we didn't think about hiring a lawyer for the interview. I thought it was more for difficult cases or if you don't speak the language, and also if you had a lawyer who applied on your behalf from the beginning of the process. How was your bio appointment tucker8439?

@Caliliving: 12 months?!? How do we know in which center is our application... ? I have no idea and maybe I missed something? I received NOAs and biometrics appointment from National Benefits Center in Missouri.

Hi C&I - Our biometrics was quick and easy took 10 minutes! now just waiting for the interview date and info on my EAD !!

Caliliving - our cases are being processed through National Benefits Center in Missouri - we will only go to the the local immigration office ( Houston for us) for our interview...it's my understanding that all concurrently filed family based AOS cases are done thru the National Benefits Center in Missouri..maybe I'm wrong? .

So I'm not sure about what you read about the wait for Texas ( there are numerous USIS offices here) as it depends on what type of immigration you are applying for etc...at least hope that it the case !!

As long as my EAD comes soon - then I can wait for my GC!!

Good Luck to all of you!

Hello There,

I just have one question, can you tell me the expiration date on your form I-485 expiration or revision date... I sent my form one week after yours and one to make sure I sent the correct one...

Thanks!!

Hello,

I don't think this topic already exists for last month of the year filers!

I'm adjusting from B2 Visa and sent our package this morning so pretty excited to be finally over with the first step!!! All of these forms and documents to send... it is a lot of work!

The Post Office clerk said the package should arrive on Monday but maybe I will only be able to check the tracking on Tuesday.

What does happen after? I know I have to patiently wait but do we get an email from USCIS when they receive the package? We sent the G-1145.

Also, do you know if I can already apply for a SSN and a State ID?

Oh and I had to make 3 different money orders to pay the fees (yesterday was a fun day taking care of this.. ). The money order limit is $1000 so impossible to have a money order of $1070 for I-485. I went to different banks and they all said the same. hope they will accept 3 different money orders!!

#prayingformyGC

Can someone tell me the expiration date on your I-485 forms???? December fillers please!

Thanks!

@Wwwawawa

Mine expired on 06/30/15 but when filing. It was the only form available on the USCIS's website in December'15. I red somewhere the revision date on the bottom is what matters and they list these dates on their website as well under Edition date.

Hi December filers,

Is there anyone else here that is also impatiently waiting for EAD/AP??? My case online still says "Ready for the interview" but no news yet. I'd like to start to work asap with the EAD, if I can easily find a job. It's starting to be difficult financially, although I know I have to be patient

I'm not sure but apparently USCIS is proceeding with NOA1 dated of November 18. My NOA is dated of December 11 so I can still wait... But my processing estimates says: Based on timeline data, your EAD may be adjudicated between February 23, 2016 and February 27, 2016*.

On your side, are you also starting to look for a job? Which websites do you use other than LinkedIn, Indeed, Craigslist? Do you have any tips on how to be successful to find a job? I signed up with networking organizations that organize meetings but they still have to get back to me.
