We are going in for our interview on the 7th. I called USCIS in early october and asked them how to proceed, since we hadn't heard anything back since I sent that letter stating my husband was back from deployment.

The person said to schedule an infopass appointment to find out what is going on.

About a week after that phone call we received our interview notice.

I love how they call this our "initial interview", considering I already had that one back in April, but then again I am just happy that this whole process will hopefully be over soon.

Sorry to hear that. I know that it feels terrible waiting. Contact your senator and congressman! It seemed to help speed our case up. The rep from our Senator's office reached our to the local field office on Monday. They replied back to wait and check the processing times. Two days later an interview is scheduled.

I would suggest doing a case inquiry online and scheduling a time to talk to an officer in person through InfoPass. Sometimes you have to give it a little push and remind them that you have been waiting a year. Plus, that way you can ask them if the application is still good since it's coming up on a year and if you'll need to renew the EAD, etc. It's better to have peace of mind and give them a little push to get things going.

We just got back from our interview. And it definitely left me unsure of the outcome because the guy kept asking for more and more evidence to prove that we share a household and then wouldn't accept our marriage certificate, although it was the original that we were handed when we got married. So we had to drive down to the courthouse and get a certified copy and drop it back off at uscis. But the thing thay really had me shaking was that he kept saying that we only got married in Missouri to avoid Kansas state law

(Husband was previously married and ex-wife kept dragging on with the divorce so it took forever for it to be finalized). The issue was that in Kansas we would've needed to wait for a whole year and he was going to be deployed by then. He just made it sound like we did something illegal, when infact we didn't.

Soooo long story short I have no idea whether we are going to be approved or not.

If your marriage is legal in the state that you got married, USCIS can not do anything about it, even if they think you switched states for some reason. Remember they are not lawyers. As long as you submit papers they ask for, they can't deny you. Even if they ask for RFE, you can submit it. Everything is going to be okay/ My guess is they will approve you in a little while. And if they are dragging their feet on it, contact your congressman. Even though they can not affect the USCIS decision, they can make inquiries and everything will go faster.

Good luck, keep in mind, this shall pass and they will issue your green card sooner or later! :)
